Hi all, seeking a bit of insight on the following diamond and a variety of settings. A big shout out to Gypsy for providing a ton of guidance regarding my first ring purchase that is still a work in progress. I still continue to scour this sight for information, as well as do my homework at PS vendors. Anyway, I am seriously considering this particular stone to be set in a halo... Ring size would be a 4 US.

From what my novice eyes can see, the ASET and DiamXray images look pretty promising... The stone also appears to be very clean.
Specs are 0.9ct, H, VS2. 58% table, 69.9% depth, 5.47 x 5.55 x 3.82

The settings I was considering are https://bridal.gabrielny.com/product/ER9319W44JJ https://bridal.gabrielny.com/product/ER8152W44JJ

My question is do you think this stone will be a great performer based on the specs? Also, does it become a matter of personal preference when setting a stone like this in a halo? I would hate to diminish the appearance of the stone by perhaps creating a "distraction" with a halo... but I know my gf does like the halo setting. If this stone does not work out, I plan to keep browsing for an august vintage round that could be set in a pave in order to accent the unique facets.

Appreciate the info

Stone is nice enough. Since it is GOG I would want to see a video of it. Ask them to make one for you.

I really like your idea of an AVR as well.

That setting is okay.

Do any of these look like the ones she showed you at all? GOG is a Beverly K dealer so they could match or better the prices here and I think most of them could be made for a cushion (or you could go with the AVR which I love).

Gypsy,
Those Beverly K settings are much nicer than the Gabriel ones I selected. 9024 and 9029 are the settings that most resemble the picture she showed me. It's funny that you mentioned that AVR because I had seen that one during my search and was considering it as well. The images look very promising. I guess my homework has paid off a bit. Either way, the cushion I selected compared to that AVR would be two different beasts.. tough call.

Good Old Gold carries Beverley K, so there is no problem with them getting you a setting. The modern cushion is beautiful, and I would set it in a pave halo like you first posted. If you go with an AVR or AVC, I'd go with Beverley K. I just prefer antique style diamonds in antique style settings.

Thanks for the insight diamond seeker.. will be making a decision today most likely!

It's a matter of preference. But I really like the AVR because she did show you rounds. GOG can get you the Beverly K settings and match or better the price for you. Since she showed you pictures of rounds in halos, I think it's a safe bet she'll love it. Plus the AVR allows you to eek out a little extra spread. :wavey:
