How much of a difference should I expect to pay for a SI3 vs. an I1 that looks to be eye clean? Please help! I looked online but there prices varied wildly.....

Or are they the same thing? If I want to go up should I go to a SI2?

This link might help you for price comparison. https://www.pricescope.com/diamond-prices.aspx Have you read the tutorial on clarity??? It is up top under knowledge. I think clarity is very personal; some people love eye clean SI2's but that needs to be discussed w/the vendor as they vary.

I have an eye clean SI2 but I really wouldn't want to go lower than that especially for an engagement ring. Any lower (and some si2's) can already have inclusions that can be seen to the naked eye. SI3 and I1 will definitely have some that you can see. At that point I would go lower on the color. Maybe if you gave us your budget we could help you find something

Do you mean SI2 clarity?
because Officially, there is no SI3 level . And really, its just a nice way of saying I1 (or if you wanna get really technical, it could be a "good" I1).
But you will find no reputable lab such as AGS or GIA have an SI3 grade.
so effectiveley to answer your question, price for SI3 = should equal I1price

I think I have heard of an SI3 EGL

, maybe that's what they're referring to?

We ended up going with a 1.05ct round brilliant diamond. It an SI2, H color, eye clean and GIA certified. It has an excellent cut, symmetry and polish with no florescence. (I don''t know the dimensions because we have not picked up the ring yet and I didn''t memorize them!)

We got this diamond because my the first one chipped. The jewelry store we bought it from was very accommodating and reasonable. They let us trade in our old diamond toward the new one. Anyways, we did not get the last diamond insured which was a problem when it chipped. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on who we should use? I see many people talking about CHUBB on this forum.
