Okay, the cut / color / size / price combo on this Whiteflash ACA tempted me. So, should I buy this diamond or not? I want to use it in a ring. How about that big feather between 8 & 9 o'closk, though? Here's the mounting I want to use. Big triple prong corners on the head and lots of metal around the stone. Will that big prong just hide the feather, or will it stress it more?

Thanks, in advance.

edit: Pic was already posted prior to the new PS "no logo" rule. Sorry.

Using the SARIN data ranges, it''s HCA score is .7 to 1.1 or 1.3, Ex/Ex/Ex/VG down to Ex/VG/VG/VG, depending on what combos you look at. It''s always on the edge of the ASG Ideal, or else just outside it.

I think you would need to ask a gemologist at WF about the feather. If it does not break the surface I don''t see why it would be a problem.

A stone with a single, large, grade-setting inclusion comprising a feather on the edge of a SI2 sounds like a potential durability issue.
You can see it at the 8 o'clock position and it's either breaking the surface, or dangerously close to the surface. The feather is also shown in both top and bottom inclusion plots, which is also not a good sign.
I would probably walk away.

Ditto, I think you will find it shouldn''t pose a problem with a hand selected stone from a trusted vendor.

+1 - best ask the vendor!

I love Garry's quote (different inclusion, same type of question):

nO - TS NOT A DURABILITY ISSUE - IT IS A fear of durability issue.

The greatest risk is you will be worrying about it and get squashed by a truck

That''s what I thought -- There''s no way it at least isn''t at least exposed at the girdle. I think I imagine see that cleaving off if it got whacked just right, lol. Might be better for a pendant, but I''d probably never specifically buy a diamond for a pendant. But, WF did choose it for ACA.
