SI2 Diamond Clouds Make the Clarity Grade?

Hi I found a diamond I think is a great deal for the color, cut and clarity, but I have never come across a diamond where the cloud makes the clarity grade, however I know clouds along with twining whips are good inclusions to have.

Here is the link to the GIA certificate:

Is this something I should be concerned about? Or can I expect this to be eye clean?

there could be something to worry about. Another PSer and I were discussing this just a few days ago. The fact that the clarity is based on clouds that are not plotted can be an issue. There could be so many clouds that they couldn't place them all within the plot. They could be very dense and affect the diamonds brilliance as well. You will need to have this stone independently evaluated to be sure that inclusions are not affecting the performance of the diamond.

Nice catch though, until very recently I hadn't even heard of this or seen it on a report!

EDIT: The symetry of this stone is only good as well, this may be indication of other issues as well. Best to have it evaluated by a professional.

What an interesting diamond! The proportions are unusual, but they seem to be working all right from the photo you posted. You will want to ask your vendor to provide an ideal scope image to be sure of the optics before going further.

In addition, in an SI2 stone where clarity is based on clouds that are not shown you need to have a trusted gemologist/vendor look at the diamond and make sure that the clouds are not so profuse that they negatively affect the diamond's ability to reflect and play with light. This is a risk with Si2 stones that have clarity based on clouds not shown. This vendor can provide that information for you, and they have an ample and generous return period, so you can also look at it yourself and take it to an appraiser of your choice (indepedent, not someone who sells jewelery) and ask them about the clouds as well.

Nice find, I bet it is way cheaper than the alternatives, could be a good one. Researve it now if you like it, many of us will recognize the vendor.

 I was hoping that Dreamer would chime in, she is the PSer that brought 'grade based on clouds not shown' to my attention.

I agree the combinations of angles is unique and seem to work well together. This particular stone scores a 2 on the HCA which is a tool used to predict a stones likely light performance. As DD said, this is likely a great stone, so long as the clouds don't affect it's brilliance. :)) I'm curious to see what a gemologist or appraiser have to say about it.

Thank you for all the input! Unfortunately I had the gemologist review the diamond and he concluded that it is impacted by its clouds which causes it to be a weaker performer.
