Show me your wedding nails! Did anyone veer away from the french manicure?

I plan on doing my nails and toes myself (although I am splurging on professional hair and makeup). Have any suggestions for colors? I love OPI and own probably a couple dozen colors already. Just can''t seem to find the right shade for the wedding.

I will be wearing an ivory dress, if that makes any difference. I''m Asian, so I have slightly darker, yellow skin tone.

Help!

I didn''t get a french mani.. I used an OPI color.. oh my gosh.. I am totally blanking on what its called right now.. but its a super super pale pink with some opalescence.. and it was just perfect.. but all the people at the nail salon tried to talk me into gettomg the french mani.. Very glad I didn''t..

This is the best pic I can seem to find of my nails.. I know its not a great one. It was very pale.. kind of sheer.. kind of shimmery..

I change my mind between light pink and FM. I wear OPI "sweetheart" daily so it might be fun to change it up a bit. I was in Aldo yesterday and a girl came up to me out of nowhere to ask to see my ring and also to ask what color I use on my nails. I have never got so much attention/compliments on a nail color before than with "sweetheart." I think I am going to get a deep purple on my toes (I thought it would be fun b/c it is my accent color and it looks good with my skin tone)

I did a FM and thought it looked great

Since my nails are usually on the shorter side and often break, I ended up getting a "permanent FM" with gel tips. Loved it.

I'll be doing a french manicure as well, with my own nails (nothing acrylic). I think it's a very classic look. I absolutely love the picture SanDiegoLady posted recently, so I'll probably take that to the nail salon as an example.

ETA: Nevermind, I found it!

Great thread!

No french mani for me.

Here''s what I''m thinking...

If I wear ivory shoes, then I''ll do OPI''s "No, I''m not really a waitress" on my toes. It''s my favorite color, and will go well with my deep red/wine color scheme.

If I wear deep red/wine colored shoes, then I''ll do Essie''s "Ballet Slippers" on my toes.

I''ll be wearing "Ballet Slippers" on my fingernails.

I used OPI''s "Bubble Bath". It was perfect. I''m not a french manicure person either.

I had a FM on my hands (my nails) and my toes were a nice light blue and doubled as my something blue!

Currently I have been using a pale pink like many of the ladies above have already posted. I like that it still shows the whites of my nails, but isnt as glaring/bright as a FM. My other fav is just plain ol'' clear!

I just had a spa day and got both a french manicure and pedicure. I agree that sometimes an FM can be a bit glaring, but the key is to not use white white for the tips. My technichian used Essie Marshmallow which is a soft white for the tips and Mademoiselle (sheer sheer light pink) over it. My nails don't look pink at all. Of course use a base coat and top coat.

An Ulta store just opened in my neighborhood so I went to pick up the same colors this weekend to do on my own...love that store! FMs I've gotten in the past have been too white, so I'm so glad to have picked up this latest tip from my manicurist about using a soft white.

Good luck either way!

I wore OPI "Will -you-mariachi-me?" on my toes. They were a french mani but with just a thin white tip with a gold stripe and one blue crystal on my left foot. I don''t remember my fingernail color but it was also OPI...pale pink.
