Ummm, how do you put a cat in ''time-out?'' Just curious, hee hee.

Is Holly your stray kitty, FG? If so, wonder if she thinks she''s back in the wild again when the tree goes up. Can''t blame them for investigating, now can we? LOL!
9.gif
I know, it sounds crazy right? But as soon as she has tried to climb the tree, I say, ''NO!'' and pick her up and put her in a room by herself and shut the door. Since what she wants most is to be near us, she whines to be let out and it actually IS a punishment (as opposed to her not giving a crap and just entertaining herself in there
2.gif
). After a few minutes I let her out. And she actually does avoid the tree...for a little while.

Holly is the stray kitty, so it is possible she likes the tree cuz it reminds her of being outside. And it''d be okay if she SAT under it (which she did for the first few days)...it''s her new thing of climbing it that''s gotta stop. LOL!!!

We''re off to get our tree tomorrow. We''re going to a farm to get it and we''re super excited. I just picked up the Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas CD to get in the spirit. I''m having flashbacks to 1985 when I had the tape! It was my favorite ;o)

My cats like to drink the water out of the tree stand. I have to refill it twice as often!

I love Christmas trees! There''s a whole bunch of traditions surrounding it in my family. My parents are doing theirs on the 21st; it''s still a big family thing so we''ll all get there once we''re done with our classes and we''ll set it up with them. I''l trying to convince FI to get a small one for our apartment.

From the outside, you can see 3,000 lights blazing! I still need to put all my candles in the windows and do the porch. By then we''ll be looking at around 4,000 white lights. The neighbors tease me that it looks like a runway.

It IS dark out right now, so excuse the dimness of the pic!

Oh, I like those twin trees!! Very pretty!!

Here''s my family room tree. It''s a 9.5 ft douglas fir and it is tied to the wall [I have 5 cats].

Whoa! Now that''s a big tree!

Here is last year''s [or is it the year before''s?]. This year''s won''t go up until DD gets home from university.
I love the old-fashioned look of the draped garland. Reminds me of some 40s photos I''ve seen!

Here is our downstairs 7.5ft tree which we put up this last weekend. We have a wall of french doors/windows floor to ceiling in our downstairs ''living room'' (to the left of the photo) so we put up this tree so that people walking by outside can see the tree at night. This wkd we get our ''real'' tree for upstairs family room where we actually hang out, which is smaller and has more of my unique ornaments on it that I have been collecting for years. This one is more for display only.
I love the simplicity of the white lights in the dark. This is beautiful!

Okay, you guys have officially put me in the mood! We weren''t going to do the tree this year, ''cause we''re still moving in and arranging everything, but you''ve changed my mind.

Oh wow it is so great to see all of your festive trees! I haven''t decorated yet, but here are some pictures from last year:

You''re welcome!

It looks awesome, and reminiscent of what I grew up in, and what I "thought" I would spend my the rest of my life in. But, we bought what I thought was a stepping stone to that dream house (and NOTHING like what I wanted), and hubby has refused to take another step.
11.gif

Unless we win the lottery, so he can pay someone to keep up all the "charm" of an older home, it''s not happening.
39.gif

And I didn''t mean to imply your tree wasn''t pretty, it is.

Hehe, yes the old haus has its good days and bad days...but it is mostly the stuff that I use to decorate it that gives it charm and makes it cozy. My mom cross stitches so I have lots of her framed work. I love birds so I collect bird houses and set them everywhere. I am difficult to buy for gift-wise and am sentimental, so I end up with lots of weird stuff. I also have a lot of antique furniture from both sides of grandparents, and a dad who is an avid antiques collector. He knows where to find the good stuff and he helps me decorate! Otherwise...everything would probably be IKEA (which we happen not to have where I live now

)

LIB, what a beautiful tree and I love your house! The tree looks stunning and your house looks so cozy.

Thanks Zoe...I am a cozy homebody!

Love in Bloom,

Love Your House!!!! It is soooooooooooooooo darn cozy. What state do you live in???? Love all of the wood.

Linda

I live in Indiana and the cost of living is very low here compared to the east coast, the only other place I have lived. The cost issue is a good thing for now, but probably a very bad thing when we leave after hubby gets his doctorate. We were in Mill Valley, Ca on our honeymoon and looked at some houses there. We''re still in sticker shock

I''ll say, DH and I were born and raised in California. Houses are outrageous. We bought ours when they were very "cheap" I should say. HA!!!

Yours is lovely, I just love it.

I''m glad you have a place to call home...in this day it is becoming more difficult. Yup, that scares me. DH is perhaps looking at Caltech for a postdoc...if we move to California, we may have to live in a tent

. I would love to live in NoCal in the future, I absolutely loved it. Hey...where is your trree Linda???
