I definitely agree with asking for your money back. You gave them a second chance and they did not make the ring as it should be.

prong is bad news.
Was the ring resized?
The other issue looks like it was and more one side than the other...

I'm not Storm, but that prong is bad news as it's not holding the diamond properly. It's not seated properly. I am glad you are sending it back, the basket is off too. It's a lovely setting, you have a gorgeous stone. Now hoping they get it right!!![]()
You are entitled to your opinions and I respect them as such. Most importantly, I appreciate the honesty. I just wanted to clarify what work has been done with the ring. I agree with you the ring was not like this before. I even commented on that per page #1 of this thread.Date: 4/23/2008 8:07:13 PM

While I agree that the current setting is botched, I notice you say this 'is the second time' they didn't get it right. I was curious about your previous posts so I went back to the beginning and read up.
There was nothing at all wrong with your original setting. You simply decided that you'd prefer thinner prongs. That's a preference issue, not a workmanship issue. It's your ring and you are the one who decides what you want, no problem there, but I don't think it's fair to the vendor to make it sound like they botched #1, and then botched #2 again. Just my humble opinion.
Rather than start a thread discussing your 'butchered' ring, maybe you could have given the vendor a chance to return and see if there was resolution![]()
Here you may get sympathy. With the vendor you may get results![]()
Since the vendor is not available to fully discuss what can be done to improve the situation, I prefer to leave his name out of this thread for the time being.Date: 4/23/2008 11:05:48 PM

who is the vendor???
I completely agree with you, lesco. You have not mentioned nor tried to discredit the vendor in any way. Since the particular vendor is highly respected here on PS, I would have to assume that the poor workmanship on your ring is an anomaly and they will do whatever it takes to get it right. I am not sure (if I were you), at this point, if I would want them to attempt to fix it, or just get my money back.Date: 4/23/2008 10:51:27 PM

I have sent the ring back twice after I received it:
First time ( A.K.A #1): Prongs were filed down incorrectly and assymetrically.
Second time ( A.K.A #2) : Ring was sent back to the setter to correct the work and thin out the prongs as I requested. These pictures are of Job #2.
It is not my intention to pass bad judgement on this vendor or his work for that matter. Do you see any direct references to the vendor here?????
You say this is a preference issue, not a craftsmanship issue. Agreed. Still, I do not understand? Should I expect a subpar job just because I decided to thin out the prongs??? Is good craftsmanship something that I should be expecting only the first time around??? Will this be the way you feel if this is your ring?
This is a free speech forum, in which we all express our opinions or dissatisfactions, my 'butchered' ring being one of them.... You have just expressed your opinion . I am done expressing mine.
Thank you. I will let you guys know how it turns out.Date: 4/24/2008 12:56:25 AM
