We have this diamond on hold and would like your experienced opinion about whether it is worthwhile getting it appraised and then buying it...According to the staff gemologist, the diamond is completely eye clean. I do notice that the inclusions can be seen in the Idealscope image. Is that normal for SI1 diamonds?

Thanks much,
SD

HI Smurfy,

The experts will weigh in but I think that looks really sharp and crisp. I had to look a while before I spotted the inclusion but still it doesn''t seem significant and if the vendor said it was eyclean . . . can I ask which vendor?

Hi Cocosgirl,

Thanks for your reply. It''s from James Allen. However, it seems that the diamond is not in-house and I am wondering if all vendors have the same definition for eye clean?

Do you or anyone else on the forum have any input on this?

Thanks,
SD

I personally would feel uncomfortable buying an SI diamond from a vendor who hadn't seen the stone in person. I'd want to rely on one of the folks raved about on here to actually see the stone and give me some peace of mind--but that could be partially because I will not see mine before it is set, since I am overseas. But I think it's a personal preference.

The best thing is if you get JA to call it in, then they can look at the stone and you will then need to let them know what your expectations of an '' eyeclean'' diamond, then they can let you know if the diamond is suitable or not.
