Should the wedding band be larger?

I'm getting a custom wedding band made to fit against my engagement ring. One thing someone mentioned to me is that I should get it a bit larger than my engagement ring as it sits at a different place on the finger.

Should I get it a quarter size larger or half size larger? I'm also thinking about getting one on each side of the band.

Thank you!

I find that the band in the middle is usually tightest so I would say the wedding band closest to you hand should be the same or 1/4 smaller than the ering. The band on the other side should be about the same as the ering.

I would get the wedding band a little smaller then the ering. The ring on top (closest to knuckle) should be larger in size, if different. My rings are 5, 5.25, 5.5 (eternity, wband, ering).

Hey kemurphy! :wavey:

This may be tricky with the band on either side... I'd hate to have matching band (assuming they will be the same) in very close, but different sizes. On the other hand, I'd want to make sure they were comfortable on my hand. Hmmmm.... :|

Are they really delicate, thin bands? Comfort fit? These can make a difference.

I definitely would not get 2 different sizes for the bands that are going on either size. I'd do 1/4 size up. The ER swings because it's top heavy, so you really need that to fit firmly. Wedding bands can move around and it doesn't really matter, plus they're not top heavy. I don't like when bands stick out at the side - i.e. are visibly different sized/widths - so I'd keep em pretty close - 1/2 size at most would be my recommendation. Also - if they are eternities they cannot be sized - so that would give you some room.

Thank you all for the advice. The bands will be thin, 2mm or so. I have large knuckles so I think I will get it a quarter size larger for both (if I end up getting two).

I just dropped my engagement ring at the jeweler so they can take a mold of it. It feels so wrong not having it!
