This may be a really stupid questions but is it bad if I don''t wash my new sheets before I use them? Are there toxic chemicals on them or something? I''m really lazy and don''t feel like doing laundry

I''m a complete sheet snob, I just love them and I love new ones!

DEFINITELY wash them before you use them. They have been processed with formaldehyde and other chemicals. As long as you still have the "stiffness", you still have the chemicals. Once all the chemicals are washed out is when you get the "luxurious" feel. I usually wash my sheets in back to back cycles and dry the heck out of them before I use them the first time.

This thread is hilarious! I confess to not washing new sheets on several occasions...I''m really lazy and when I buy new sheets I want to use them right away! And I don''t wash new clothes before I wear them, either. My twin sister does, though...she''s kind of crazy about stuff like that!

Wash them--but just because freshly washed sheets smell so good and feel so soft when you lie down.

Yeah, they will totally be softer. And without the weird creases from being folded up in the packaging that you bought them in.

Well, ever since my DH had a random itchy/allergic skin reaction to an unwashed duvet cover once, we DEFINITELY wash them before putting them on the bed. Then again, we don''t get new sheets very often...

I tend to wash first...but have in the past used them straight from the package

I really like jersey knit sheets...those wash up well...

The nice cottten ones I have oddly enough look crisper out of the package...unless I am right at the dryer when the buzzer goes off

I'm a germaphobe too, so I'd have to wash them before I would feel comfortable sleeping on them. LOL

Speaking of new sheets we finally went out and splurged on a king sized down blanket, we bought our king bed a few months ago and I didn''t want to give up my VERY expensive queen size.

Well the linens n'' things by me is going out of business and having a crazy sale...I got a king blanket (down) three new duvet covers, one set of sheets and two sets of pillow cases for a grand total of $250 :)

PS. I didnt wash the sheets before putting them on the bed!

I put them right on the bed. I like my sheets stiff as a board.
