Hi everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

I have a 1.69ct princess (which isn''t 1:1) set into a halo setting, but the prongs have been bothering me lately. Not at they snag on my clothing, but rather that they look really chunky! I know the more metal the more secure, but is this too much?

Should I get it redone?

Oh gosh. Well, they look too thick to me too so I understand your frustration. Would the original jeweler be able to tone them down for you? Would you trust them to do that? I say this not knowing who built the ring for you. I just know of too many benchman who would mess it up. Make sure you trust whoever does this for you and lots of luck!

Personally, I see what you see and I''d have the prongs re-done to be more delicate. I think you should only "see" the prongs prominently when they are meant as a design aspect and in your ring''s case, I dont think they''re meant to be seen as much. Just collect some photos of what you like/want before you go talk to the jeweler so he/she is clear what your preferences are. Good luck!

Your ring is gorgeous! I love the side view. I definately see what you are saying about the prongs. It would bother me too becuase they do seem so prominent and the rest of the ring is delicate. I would want that to match. Do you have a jeweler that you trust or have worked with before that understands your tastes and your descriptions? Definately take pics of what you like. Good luck!

Show us a lifesize shot. Maybe they don''t look so huge when they aren''t magnified that much!

thanks for all the replies! You are absolutely correct diamondseeker, maybe the magnification doesn''t help

Thanks! I agree that they are a little bulky. I''d see if he can trim them down a little.

Ditto. It''s a lovely setting, hoping they can be thinned out a bit.

I agree..

I''m wondering if the jeweler made them that thick so that the fragile corners were completely covered? I can understand wanting to protect the corners, but a more delicate v-tipped prong might be a better fit! Beautiful ring!

thanks for everyone''s input. i am going to take it to my jeweler and talk to him about it. if i get it redone i will be sure to repost pics.

have a wonderful weekend all!!

Definately too large imo. If you''re concerned about having the princess corners covered you may be able to change to those triangle ones..
Hope it goes well for you!

I finally got my prongs redone, its not that big of a difference but i think its better... at least I can see more diamond!

Now they look more proportionate to the diamond and the ring. It looks beautiful!
