I'm going to post three pics of the setting. It's a Kirk Kara inspiration and I can get it for roughly $500. It has .90 of VS-SI/G-H round brilliant diamonds with antique style/milgrain intricate detailing throughout the setting. My ring is a 1 carat round brilliant H color SI. I originally wanted a halo but love the antique look. Should I hold out for my halo or go for this one? Would these square prongs look bad with my round diamond?

It looks a lot like this Tacori, HT 2229. I think the prongs would look good with a round. The prongs are what make the setting look unique. I was like you, I had my heart set on a halo, but got a Tacori setting with prongs. I love it. I can't advise you on buying the setting. For $500, I would wonder about the quality. Are you buying it new from a retailer?

Those are prongs? I thought they were pylons for a bridge

Just be aware that two jewelers told me that they had problems with that delicate crescent sides on the Tacori rings like that. Is it platinum or wg? And is it your size?

Hi. Can you explain what you mean by problems? It''s 18k wg.

Apparently, some of the older crescent styles had some weakening on the "lace" bands. I have heard that this has been corrected. I hope so, coz I just put a Tacori set on layaway with crescent bands on both the e-ring and w-band. And I had my H/SI1 diamond set into it. And I don''t plan on returning it.

The sides can get dented because they are fragile since they are not solid. The little stones would come out. But they were referring to platinum, so 18k might be a little harder. Do they make it to your size or are you buying this particular ring? I''m just making sure you don''t have to have it sized.

Yikes, and the one I''m looking at isn''t even a designer....be honest, does it look like a cheap knock off? Once I saw the Tacori version I felt like my design looked crappy and cheap! I found it by chance, I wasn''t looking for designer-inspired pieces, just something antique and in my tiny price range. Now I feel like maybe it''s better to just wait.

It''s a 6.5 and I have to have it resized to a 5.5...the jeweler who is selling it is the one who made it and he said it wouldn''t be a problem to resize...is resizing this a no no?

I''m worried about the quality of the setting.

Something has to be off about it. It can''t have .9 cts of diamonds in 18k and only be $500. A plain solitaire almost cost that much!

It was originally $665 but I negotiated to $500. It''s a wholesale jeweler.
