Hi Pricescopers

I hope you''re all very well.

My stone is arriving from James Allen on Monday, woohoo! Very excited. I have made an appointment to meet and brief Leon on Wednesday, and I''m doubly-excited about that!

Now, should I get my loose stone appraised before meeting Leon, or only afterwards, when it''s set? Can you get a comprehensive appraisal (ie. ensuring the stone matches the grades on the GIA cert) once it''s set?

FYI, I''ll be setting the stone in a four-prong solitaire setting, with a thin pave shank, so I imagine the stone will still be very "accessible" to an appraiser once set.

Thanks for your advice!

I think it is reasonable to ask a jeweler who does appraisals if they will give verbal verification that the stone is the one represented on the cert. That should be free or very low cost. I would think it would make more sense to have an appraisal after it is set so that you can use it for your insurance.

Lucky you to be able to go meet with Leon! Good Luck!

That''s what i''m planning to d as well...

I don''t think it''s necessary to get it appraised beforehand unless you *must* for insurance purposes. Otherwise you are dealing with 2 great vendors, I think it should be fine. Congrats!
