I would like to buy a diamond from Jamesallen.com but I am hesitant to buy something like this online. Can everyone let me know they experience with them?

Hi Alex

JA are an excellent vendor with many happy clients, I am sure some will chime in or use the search tool to read up on others purchase experiences.

Although I''m new to PS and I have not purchased anything from JA.... I contatced JA about 2 weeks ago by telephone and requested they search for a loose diamond. They have been slow and not very concerned about my purchase. I have been suprised at the lack of customer service as I have read such good things about them on PS. I''m going on day 2 of waiting for a reply regarding an email I sent, same thing happened a few days ago. I''m strongly considering using another company.

Hi Alex and welcome. If you do a quick search you should be able to pull up tons of reviews.

ALL the vendors on PS are awesome to work with!

I''ve ordered a setting from them a couple years ago for my concave cut sapphire and they were a pleasure to work with. Very responsive and nice, and they did an excellent job setting my sapphire (which was a bit difficult, from what I understand, because of the super thin girdle on my stone). And of course, the setting was very well-made

I find them unresponsive as well! I emailed them with some questions this week and waited for 2-3 days with no reply, They did actually respond to my chase up mail though.

although I did not buy a diamond, I have inquired from them about settings, and they have been wonderful at getting back to me, even though it did take about 48 hours. But I would not hesitate to purchase from them a diamond or anything else on their site given the opportunity

email probably got found in the spam filter after the chase up email. Email got lost, SA overwork, get sick, it is the holiday seasons now, so expect delays too. If you want results, call and bug.

I endorse Jamesallen.com 100%.

I was in the market for an engagement ring just a few months ago, and I spent a lot of time on these boards researching not only stones and their characteristics, but also vendors. Jamesallen had (and continues to have) an excellent reputation with forum members, so I contacted them with requests for a few idealscopes. The staff responded, and sent me a few additional stones based on the parameters I had specified.

I live in the DC metro area, so I was able to visit them on-site and examine the stones in person. Now, I''m not suggesting that this is commonplace (you do need to live nearby) or that an on-site visit is necessary (it isn''t) - my point is, I''ve seen their operations and I''ve met Jim (the owner) in person, and I can say that the company is trustworthy, knowledgable, patient and willing to work with you to find you your perfect stone.

I''m not a JA plant, not an employee - just a guy who utilized these forums extensively over the summer to research my diamond purchase, and who had a positive experience with JA - and I feel it''s now my obligation to "pay it forward" and communicate my positive experience to similarly-situated guys.

I agree........

In regards to my previous post, oddly enough that call and email were attened to very promptly after I posted!?!?

I have started to just call whenever I need something rather than email.. No issues thus far and I''ve been treated well.

I am dealing with JA with regards a 2 carat diamond that I plan to buy from the UK.

The couple of emails sent back and forth have been lengthy (both mine and the replies) . I would rather wait longer for a detailed response than not have to wait and not get an indepth response.

replies have come quickly , especially good considering I am on a different time zone.

I have pretty much decided to go with JA and its just a case of picking the diamond really.

I think JA does a killer job, and a great extra perk is that I think their prices seem to be a little less expensive than most other vendors for comparable diamonds and settings.

Well everyone I pulled the trigger and bought from JA. The stone is beautiful and I just got it appraised and the appraiser told me it was the same diamond I ordered and i got it at a very fair price. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend JA in the future.

Congrats. :)

Any pics?
