Should I add a halo?

Hi,

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I've been married almost 3 years and do love my setting, however, I've had dss for most of those three years!

I've already changed my setting while engaged to my current, but I really think I need a bigger solitaire. Problem is, I know we can't afford it now. My hubby just bought me a matching band, which I Love..my thinking is maybe I should halo until we can afford to upgrade..

My center diamond is a round brillAnt G- 1.70 si2. The table width is 63%, which is why my jeweler said it faces up like a 2?! She does Not recommend haloing, as she says it takes away from the stone.

Below are some pictures and the halo I'm looking at.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Hi Mia, you have a really lovely set! You will probably get a variety of answers to your question, some just prefer a solitaire look so personal preference enters into this - but I can relate my own personal experience. I have a 1.96 Old European Cut stone (8mm) in a solitaire and started experiencing DSS. I thought long and hard about another upgrade and decided I just didn't want to spend the money. I reset into a halo setting and have been very happy with the results. I enjoy the added sparkle and finger coverage and don't have a desire for a bigger stone. In my particular case, I feel the halo improved the performance of my diamond, as it sparkles more and the faceting is more apparent. In pics the halo seems a bit large, but IRL it is delicate and I don't think it takes away from my diamond at all. Just wanted to share since our situations seem similar. Good luck with your decision!

Oh, have you tried on halo settings? It will help you figure out if you like the look on your hand. Trying on different halo settings helped me decide a halo was the right choice for me.

I say do it I just bught jackets for my studs due to DSS it really helped

I agree that a halo might be a great fix for your DSS! [emoji3] I think a well done halo only enhances a stone, not take away from it.

... I'm kind of biased though! [emoji6]

That's not true...Your jeweler is full of BULL!.. :liar:

June bug-Thank you your ring is stunning! Yes, I agree are situations are similar. Did you have to get a whole new setting or did you use an existing setting. I think my hubby may be upset if I tell him I want to switch again.. Especially since he just bought me a new band. I thought maybe I could sell it to him that the halo would bring it all together...

Heididdl- thank you totally agree!

Msop04- your halo is gorgeous! Did you have tgat cusom done? How big is your center stone?? Just beautiful!

Dancing fire- I didn't think that sounded right..although a larger table is good, right? If I'm at 1.70 now would a 2.3 center stone make that big of a difference or not really?? Should I be looking at the table % or something else?? Thanks ;)

You can compare the diameters b/t these two well cut stones.. ;))

I would go and try a few halos on. I think it would be the perfect solution.
