Hi everyone.

This is my first posting but I''ve been visiting for a while. My boyfriend and I have been looking at diamonds for, what seems like, FOREVER and we found this one, I''ve seen it and I think it looks great, please let me know if you see any problems with the GIA stats...

interesting because the numbers are good (what is the pav angle though?), but the good/good polish symmetry throws me. typically if you have care given to cutting the stone to achieve good numbers for great visuals, you see higher marks for polish/symm. that bugs me.

the v-thin girdle wouldn't necessarily bother me depending on how many spots it's v-thin in. if it's just one or two tiny areas then it wouldn't bug me, esp if you can set the diamond with prongs to protect those spots. do you have more girdle info? a diagram? also it doesn't look as though the crown is too shallow.

i love a great H SI1 and the size is a really hard to find sweet spot. have you see the diamond in person? thoughts?

Not sure what the exact price is, but he said it was "around" $14,000. The "Girdle" is Very Thin in the GIA cert. but we have an AGS print out that says its 1.3% (.6% - 2.0 %) (thin-Sl.thick). Also, in the picture on the GIA cert is says "Very thin - Slightly thick faceted". SOO confused!

I''ve seen the diamond and it looks very good, the pavillion angle is 40.6% ad the pavillion depth is 42.5%. My boyfriend was/is concerned about the symmetry as well but we both agreed that to the naked eye the diamond sparkles and gives off great light...we didn''t look at it under any fancy equipment except a scope...

I agree with Mara, my stone is gorgeous and it has a small very thin spot on it. It''s such a small area that it doesn''t bother me at all and makes my diamond worth the price for me. Did you like it?

Yes, I really did like it, we saw it next to a 2.01 that was much more expensive and I couldn''t even tell the difference! I love the Vera Wang four prong pave setting and I think it would really make this diamond look great...usually the setting is expensive but the salesperson said that because I have a size 4 finger it would cost a little less (l guess I should complain about my skiny fingers anymore!), so now we are just looking for the diamond.

Anyway, everyone on this site has been soo helpful and this is the closets we have come to really finding "the perfect" diamond, put I appreciate all the honest opinions.

the .6-2.0 for the girdle is the min and max of the girdle. so the .6 is the very thin part and the slightly thick is the 2.0. the average is 1.3.

is this a local jeweler? the one Q i'd ask is about the girdle, ask him where the v-thin spots are. if it's a bunch of them then it may be a concern, but if it's one or two tiny areas...that may be different.

otherwise the specs sound nice (except the wonky gd/gd which just sounds odd)...GIA cert and nice numbers. you can compare prices using the PS search tool up above to make sure it's not running too expensive. but if you have seen it and like it, just get the girdle checked out.

so really a 1.80 H SI1 ideal-ish stone (except for the polish/symm) seems like $14k sounds like a fair price. not the deal of the year, but not a ripoff either.

if you are still considering other stones, i would definitely check out the 1.80 I SI1 AGS0...nice numbers and $2k less than your stone. having had a G then an H and now a J stone...i don't see color very well in stones, and i wouldn't mind an I to save a few thousand...just a thought!!

Thank you MARA for the great advice, its a jeweler in Austin, Texas, so I will ask about the girdle and make sure its not in a lot of spots. The g/g doesn''t bother me too much either because I have seen the stone and it doesn''t look off.
