Hi Ladies!

I've got about 4 months until my wedding and I've come to terms with the fact that my hair isn't really going to be long enough to style in an up-do
7.gif
. I bobbed it back in November, thinking I'd have enough time to grow it out...I was wrong. My original inspiration for my hair was Cocolaw's hair linky here but it's back to the drawing board! Here's a picture of my hair length during the holidays. Suggestions?

TIA!

I think it looks great just pulled back a little like it is in the picture!

Are extensions out of the question?

Thanks TG! I was hoping to do something a little different than the everyday hair. I thought about extensions but I''d rather not deal with the additional cost. I think I''d rather have fewer and more simple options than getting the extensions.

Here''s a couple options... the first one is the most like Cocolaw''s I think.

another... I''ll keep looking... HTH

Here's one that I found on a how to have a perfect short bridal updo website. So i'm assuming that it can be done with shorter hair.

here's another from the same website. Let me know if I'm on the right track.

You''d be surprised what a good stylist, some hair spray, and pins can do! I''d take in all your inspiration photos, including Cocolaw''s photos and see what they can come up with.

If the hair in the picture is from six weeks ago, then you most likely have NOTHING to worry about, especially since you want an up-do. I am sure your stylist will be able to do a fabulous up-do with what you have now. I was actually told that it is easier to work with shoulder-length hair than it is with longer hair for those styles. And from what I can see, Cocolaw''s hair style should be totally doable! Why don''t you go in for a trial, and see how you like it?

I would also say that since you''ve got 4 months, try eating yogurt everyday and also take a multi-vitamin. I notice my hair and nails seem to grow faster when I''m really dilligent about those two things.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I especially love the 3rd pic you posted Meg.

BeachRunner and onvacation I was just thinking of doing a trial just to see what the stylist could do, but I also didn''t want her to be like, "you''re nuts if you think I can do this with your amount of hair!"

TG I didn''t know yogurt makes your hair grow. Neat! I will definitely try that.

LOL, good hair people can work wonders. My hair stylist laughed when I told her that I was afraid to chop my hair because I wanted my hair up on my day, and she showed me how short it can be for her to be able to pull it off. It was much, much shorter than your hair is now.

Just a side note, with darker hair like yours, the overall look and feel of the do will be somewhat different from the blonde styles you have in this thread. Unless you get major highlights, there won''t be that contrast that contributes to the piece-y, delicate aura you get with the multi-tonal hair. Just an FYI

Good luck!

The average person''s hair grows 1/2" per month... so if your wedding is in 4 months, that is approximately 2 more inches to work with. Personally, I could definitely put an updo into your hair at the length it is (I''m a licensed hairstylist)... so with the additional growth you will have, I would say absolutely you will have MANY options for your wedding "do". Definintely print off some pictures of styles you like and book a consultation with your stylist. AFTER the talking consultation, then book your trial updo.

...well, that''s just my suggestion.

Just chiming in that I had my hair cut to my chin about a month before a friend''s wedding in which I was a bridesmaid. The stylist was able to do an updo that looked almost exactly like Cocolaw''s even with my newly shortened hair! Granted, I have pretty thick hair but it really IS amazing what they can do with bobby pins and hairspray.

HUGE ditto to this. Cocolaw's hair was also my inspiration, and my stylist did the best she could, but it's hard to see the defined curls going from front to back because my hair is so dark. I'll go find a pic from my trial, hang on a sec...

Also, my hair was barely longer than yours in your pic above and it worked fine.

Us dark haired girls have it rough!!!

Thanks for the input and reassurance Beltane! (sidenote--everytime I see your avatar name I think of the most charming B&B in Sonoma County where we were initially going to host our wedding). Usually my hair grows pretty fast but it seems like this time around it doesn''t want to move! I can now pull my hair into a low, stubby pony so cross my fingers!

Ts44, I''m glad it worked out for you! I definitely feel better now about having more options with everyone''s input.

sunnyd, yeah I figured I wouldn''t get the multi-dimensional look with my dark hair, but I still love the shape and the curls...we''ll see if I still feel the same way after a hair trail

. BTW can''t say this enough, but you''re a classic beauty! Your wedding earrings ain''t bad either

Aw, I''m blushing!

Hehe, thank you.

Ditto. A good stylist will be able to work wonders. Can you book a trial or two early on and experiment with a few looks?

Hi Honey, I actually contacted the hair/mua that I was interested in working with today. I''m thinking the first or 2nd week in March. I''ll keep you all posted and hopefully get some pics up if I can!

Hi! My hair wasn''t even as long as yours at my wedding, and they managed to get it all back! It''s amazing what stylists can do. I think I had about 70 hairpins in there, but it worked. Here are a few pics, the ones that show how long my hair was are teeeeny, but they''re all I''ve got.

With the length you''re at, even now, you should be able to do something romantic like Cocolaw''s!

I''m sure no matter what, you and your hair will look lovely for your wedding :)
But-- here is a tip: many actors are in the know for this "how to grow your hair a bit faster in a couple of months" trick-- jello. And make sure to eat lots! Plus, with all of the sugar free jello out there (not that jello is high calorie anyways, but it''s a great snack to eat on the go! I have friends who swear by this method. Not sure if it will actually work, but actors have to know how to change their appearance usually within three months of getting cast, so this may help!

:D

Good luck to you, you''ll look stunning no matter what!
