Super simple question, sorry if it's a repeat but we discuss cut grading so much that the search function is not helping me.

I understand that GIA only started rating cut in 2006, but I am curious about the reports they issue. I have seen a report from 2006 that includes angles and I have also seen a report from 2009 that only gives table and depth. I'm confused. Why would a newer report have less information?

HI Chris,
Sounds like you're looking at a report for a stone other than a round diamond- is that correct?
The only cut grades from GIA are on round brilliant diamonds.

... also the full GIA reports for Fancy Colored Diamonds include only table and depth numbers.

If the report you're referring to is not for a cut other than round, might it be for a colored diamond?

Ahhh, you're right! Duh.

I'm embarrassed! Thanks for straightening me out.

Really glad to help Chris!

From my perspective, it's a very good question- it shows you're learning about diamonds.
