My wife & I have been looking at options for a very nice birthday gift wedding band to compliment her very nice solitare.
She first wanted 5 stone band, around 1.5 to 1.75 total weight. Then she switched to channel set.
Today we saw a 2 Total CW channel set baguette ring at a B&M store in Rockville MD. It was really pretty, but the store wouldn''t give certification or document the diamond grades. Even Tiffany''s online shop shows more carats for less, which rather shocks us.
We were told that since the ring had 45 individual stones all packed together, color & quality ratings were not available.
Does this sound like BS? I have to say the ring was beautiful, and the store is a long established business that has been in White Flint Mall for over 25 years.
Where might we look for comparable rings?
She really fell in love with the baguette style, but we haven''t seen any like this one in our recent shopping trips.
TIA,
David

Have you looked at Signed Pieces? Their rings are gorgeous and high quality. www.signedpieces.com - look at the Facets Collection.

I does sound a tad like BS

I believe when you buy a diamond band you generally get the stats on the stones, but not always certificates. Twill say for example, whatever tcw - total carat weight, colour G-H, VS clarity. This is important so you can compare prices. A 2 tcw band with G VS stones is going to be pricier than a 2tcw band with say J colour SI clarity stones.

You should be able to know what you are buying and compare prices. If you are not satisfied with your local jeweler and haven''t seen the ring anyplace else maybe you ought to consider having it custom made. Calling one of the PS recommended vendors that does custom work and talking about your size and style preference might be the answer.

Hi Stoneseller

Welcome to Pricescope! As someone who is in the market for a channel set ring for my girlfriend, I would say I want a summary of the quality of stones that are in the ring. As Honey22 says, you should be able to see at least:

Total Carat Weight
Colour Range
Clarity Range

You most likely won''t get certificates for each individual diamond, but a reputable place will be able to advise on the general quality of the channel set stones. I''d want to know what I''m getting for my money.
