Hi everyone, I''ve come across this pair of shoes here.
My mom pointed out that it might be difficult to move around because it has no straps or anything around the ankle to hold in place. My question is...Has anyone worn these kind of shoes? Do your feet slip in and out of the shoes easily? Thanks!

Hi there, I believe these are d''Orsay(sp) style. I have a few pair like this and my best advice is make sure they are the right size. If they fit then no your foot should not come out. Also, there are these nifty things that you can stick in the back to make sure your foot will stay in if the shoe is a bit too big. My favorite pair of Gucci shoes are this style, but if I don''t wear the little pads Saks gave me my foot inevitably slips out.

Hi choro!

The shoes are gorgeous...have you been able to try them on and walk around a bit in them? There are several gals here who had shoes like these...hopefully they will chime in for you.

I personally have freakishly narrow heels, so my feet slip out of shoes like this. I am definitely wearing something strapped to my feet for the wedding, but mine will be on grass and then traipsing on down to the beach, up stairs, near waterfalls and koi ponds, etc...

My ankles are really weak and even having straps won''t guarantee I won''t somehow manage to land on my azz!

I''ve had shoes in that general style before and for me they''re fine when they''re fairly new, but can be problematic as they get worn in and loosen up. The vamp on the shoe you''re looking at goes up pretty high, and you''re not going to be wearing them before your wedding, so I think they might work if they fit you right in the first place.

Thanks for the terminology, Sarah!

I have one 7.5 foot and one 8 foot. The 7.5 foot slips out of everything unless I have those strips Sarah was talking about. If you''ve bought them already, I would recommend trying them out. Dr. Scholls makes some now that work pretty well. But the truth is, size is what counts here. If they fit the length and width of your foot-they will stay on. If not, you''ll have blisters and/or take your shoes off all night. I would try them on before you buy (If you haven''t already). But really, just think of them as the same as any other shoe with a back. They really aren''t that much different, and they shouldn''t really need a strap or anything to hold them on...

I have lots of pairs of shoes like that and once they fit correctly, they''re perfect to wear.

Thanks everyone!

Sarah, thanks for the name. d''Orasay sounds much nicer than "shoes without security" lol

Harley and Freke, I haven''t tried them on because it''s a vendor online...I know I''m a size 5 though, so fitting shouldn''t be a problem then...

Now what I''m worried about is that these shoes are 3.25 inches high. I took out a tape measurer, and I didn''t realize how high 3 inches it. I know Freke will have no problems with the height

, but I''m a sneaker girl usually.

So, I''ve done more searching and came up with this.
What do you think? It''s a 2 inch heel, and it''s got straps (which I''m not too worried about now thanks to you ladies). Opinions much appreciated!

Those are cute! Have you decided on a dress yet, or are shoes coming first?

And I still have issues walking in heels that are over 3 inches (3 is probably maximum for reasonable comfort in my book), but platforms do make it a bit easier!

Thanks Freke! It might sound weird, but it means a lot to me getting a "cute" comment from you about shoes

Ok, if you have issues walking in 3 inches, then I really shouldn't try spending a day in them. Unless I hear other opinions, I think I'll go with the second one...

My dress is decided on this one, but I'm deciding on the shoes now because I'm going to order the dress with the Hollow-to-Hem measured to my size.
I'm going for an ivory dress and the shoes in question are white, but I don't care! The first shoes are $24 including shipping, the second one is $20 with no shipping, I don't see myself wearing them any time else, so I'll deal with the color clash

Oh I love the dress choro!!!It''s beautiful!!!You don''t have any pics of you in it right?

And I said over 3.

In all seriousness though, I can walk very well in 3 inchers, it''s just once you start going 3 and a half, 4, 5, 6 (Yes I have a pair of 6 inch heels-and yes they are very stripperish) inches is where it takes balance, coordination and concentration. Unless, I''ve had too much to drink. In which case all of that goes out the window. lol.

No, I wasn''t allowed to take pictures. But when I order it, I think I''m allowed to. I hope I can make it look good...But that model looks go gloomy that I can''t be worse than her.

6 inch heels!? I didn''t know they even exist! Must see pics...With you wearing them! I don''t like to own shoes, but I love looking at them. Especially good ones.

Yes. Even 8 inch heels exist-but those are too much. Even for me. Now women who dance on poles, thats another story. I am only one inch shorter than FF when I wear those 6 inchers-which is crazy because I''m only 5''2. The world looks totally different from up there...
Anyway, here are the shoes: It was a bit of a dare...
Perhaps I''ll have FF take a pic sometime.

I have a few pairs of shoes like this. They''re more secure than shoes with straps around the back, but I''ve found that they put more strain on the toes than strapped shoes. As long as the part over your toes is comfortable and they fit you very well, they should be only slightly less secure and comfortable than shoes with straps.

Very pretty!

That was the style of my wedding shoes and they felt very secure.

I also had similar shoes...plus I have freakishly narrow heels (like Harleigh) and my left foot is a half of size smaller than my right (like Frekechild), so I did use the little "no slip" heel pads you put in the back. They worked great! My heels were 4 inches and my feet never hurt. I'd worn them around the house to break them in, but they didn't really need it.

I was also worried about security--I had a very LONG processional, the first half was through grass...wet grass...and the second half was on stone (not to mention all the rocks I climbed up after the ceremony). I didn't trip once, nor did my heels slip off at all. If you love the style, then buy them, wear them around the house for a bit and see how they feel.

a d''orsay cut can be tough if you have skinny heels but a good shoe place can put a gripper in the back of the heel. I own a couple Manolo and Jimmy Choos in that cut and there is a little piece of elastic in the back across the heel. They might not be the best for everyone, but as long as your heel fits in and does not lift out you should be fine!

Choro, Like everyone else says if they fit correctly it should be fine. Otherwise there are those little cheat stickers that you can use.

Freke, Very hot 6" heels. I find that 3.5" is the most I can do. I used to SUCK @ wearing tall shoes, but got better when I started dancing (no, not *that* kind of dancing ha ha). I used to do a lot of tango, and even lead (my sister was follow) in 3.5" stilettos. My lead instructor was VERY impressed. I didn''t look as swanky as him, but I was in stilettos... :) My dorky accomplishment :)

That is an awesome accomplishment lliang chi! I certainly can''t do that!!!! I can walk... and thats about it.

I loled at this part: (no, not *that* kind of dancing ha ha)
because I had assumed you were talking about ballroom-I had a friend that did flamenco/tango stuff in super high heels so thats what I assumed.

Hee hee hee...

Thanks for the assurance ladies! I''m not worried about it now...I''ll double check my heel height when I get home and make a decision tonight.

Freke, the shoes are yummy! And look murderous.

Mmmm, tango~!
This makes me want to have a day out with the ps ladies for shoes shopping. Now if everyone lived in the SoCal area...
