Shipping Diamond from India to USA, Duty?

Hi,
I am receiving a diamond in the USA from India via FedEx.
Can anyone tell me what charges I can expect (Duty, etc).

Hi Noreen,

In most cases there is no import duty on unmounted diamonds brought into the US from India. You may, however, be subject to sales or ‘use’ tax from your home state. FedEx fees are nominal and the insurance charges are listed on the FexEx site.

I got a message from FedEx this morning saying delayed shipment, so I call them and they wanted our corporate tax id. I gave them the info.

As you know allot of the trade is on vacation, so I texted my uncle (in Ireland) asking about it and he said we may have to pay 7% import duty but he is not certain. So I decided to post the question on Pricescope.
