Hoping to receive pics soon...I''m not going down to visit for another week or so (waiting for the chaos to subside first as SIL''s family is huge!). I will definitely post pics as soon as possible, though!

OY! Reading back thru the threads reminds me of us. Today is my little guy's birthday. I was induced starting at 4pm on the 19th and ended up with the c-section on the morning of the 21st.

MORE well wishes for MOM!!

I just think this is the coolest thing ever...my first (blood-related) niece is due to enter the world this February

Congratulations, Monnie! I was an Aunt before I was a mother. I mean to my brother's daughter. (Actually he and my sister-in-law had both girls before my daughter was born.)

It's hard to feel the same way about my husband's niece and nephew because I met them on my honeymoon: he was a tall, blonde, gorgeous hunk in the grey uniform of the Israeli air force. I think he was then 22. My niece was a pretty, 18 year-old high school student. So I know what you mean about blood relations being different from those one acquires by marriage! Of course my daughter is not a blood relation, but that doesn't bother me at all. She was only 7 weeks when I got her. If she had been 22 years old like my nephew I might have felt different about her, too!

Thanks everyone for the congrats and well-wishes! I''m just beside myself with happiness, hee hee. Now I''m just waiting for pics...my brother has his laptop in the room with mom and baby so I''m hoping he''ll be able to send me a few to share. Surely he doesn''t have anything else to do, right? LOL!

How exciting! I just love babies!!

I am so happy for you Auntie (and your family). She is a big girl! Can''t wait to see pictures. What did they name her?

Ooooohhhhh, you must be sooo psyched!!!!!! Congratulations, AUNT Heather!

Thank you for taking the time to share with us. It''s easy to say but hard to do, and I just want you to know that it''s much appreciated :)

HUGS to you!!! And Heather #2!!! And your brother!!! And your must-be-cute-as-a-button NIECE.

Tacori, her name is Heather Haley! Seriously!

So we have Auntie Heather (that''s me, hee hee), Mama Heather (obvious), and Baby Heather!!! When my brother went to fill out the birth certificate today the gal did kind of a double take and asked him if BOTH the mom''s name and the baby''s name were supposed to be Heather? He said, "yes, and I have a sister named Heather too." LOL! It''s quite the controversial name, as you can imagine.

Well if that is what they wanted....but everyone ALWAYS has an opinion!

I think it''s wonderful to have a WOMAN''S name as a family name!!

I know what you mean about the blood relations, too. My brother''s wife has a 13 yr old daughter. I''ve known her since she was 5 (when my brother and SIL were first together). In fact, she called me Aunt at the time. But, they broke up-got together a few times before they got married last year. So, now, I don''t think I''ll ever be Aunt to her. Which is weird for me because I will definitely be Aunt to her little brother.

Congratulations again!!

This is such good news. Congratulations to all the Heathers!

Does that mean you will no longer be answering to, "Monnie" here? I had just gotten into the swing of it!

Deb, LOL...I will still go by "Monnie" here on PS, I promise! "Auntie Heather" will only be used to clarify in family gatherings, ha ha!

Congratulations Auntie Monnie. Heather is adoreable.

What they say about C-section babies appears to be correct...at least those who are already predisposed to beauty. She is perfect. No squished face of the kind that most poor babies have to endure! When will you see her, Aunt Heather?

ETA: I just looked above and saw that you are visiting in a week. It will be hard to wait!

We were kind of surprised that she doesn't have a squished head...since her entry into the world took so long. I just spoke with SIL a couple hours ago and she said the whole birth was quite an ordeal. Apparently her epidural wore off an hour into when she was pushing, and she was really disappointed that she ended up delivering by c-section, but she just couldn't take the pain and was losing strength. They tried suctioning and used forceps, and the baby has two blisters from the vacuum on her head, poor thing. Mama did not sound very happy when we were talking but I attribute 50% of that to her being very tired and whatever drugs they've given her to help with bleeding and pain.

My brother emailed me right after I talked to SIL and he said in no uncertain terms that if I ever have children I should just plan on having a ceasarean because with our genes (babies in our family are so big--I was 9/10, he was 10/11) there's no way one is coming out vaginally. I had to laugh and then remind him that we both were delivered vag, but he in turn reminded me that our mother was completely knocked out for both our births. (Not to mention she had 72 stitches after him! Ouch!)

Sorry to post negative details! I just re-read my post and it came across (to me) as a little scary. I should add that Mama is very happy and when I spoke to her she was relieved that the baby and she came out of everything healthy and fine. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

She did say that my brother thinks the baby looks like me...I do see a resemblance when I remember my baby pictures, especially the eyebrows. My dad used to call me "Kookla", if that rings a bell with anyone you might see what I mean. Other than that, I can never see a resemblance to anyone when I look at a newborn! Although she does seem to have my mother's fingernails already, which is really weird, hee hee.

Oh! What a gorgeous little girl.
