Do you over wish you could just ask somebody, "Hey, what''s the weight, clarity, color and cut of your stone?"
translate: "your diamond looks a little cloudy, do you mind telling me the specs so I can make sure I get something better?"
When I was researching cut, I went to a local B&M that was pretty helpful, I got Sarin reports, went home and ran HCA numbers and went back to look, look, look some more.
I still couldn''t tell the difference when I looked at stones with scores of 1.5 or 2.7 or 3.4. IN all humility, my eyes aren''t that well developed. Just because I understand the science behind the cut doesn''t mean I can discern varying qualities.
BUT, I can tell a pretty diamond from a less-pretty diamond. Kinda like art. I know it when I like it.
