Does anyone who has shaved down the prongs on their rings have any before and after pictures? I am considering shaving down the prongs on a 6-prong solitare setting I am looking at but I really can''t picture what effect it is going to have on the look of the ring. Pictures of settings other than 6-prong solitares are cetainly welcome because I can''t even picture what shaving down prongs entails. And I think any pictures would help. Thanks

Why is it that you are having the prongs shaved down?

If I were having my prongs shaved down I would tell [or, even better, show with a photo] the jeweler what I wanted them too look like when the work was done.

I'm a tad confused.

if you put up a good pic of your ring I can maybe photoshop the prongs thinner for you...

I don''t actually have the ring yet. The setting I am considering is the WF 6 prong solitaire setting (not replica) in platinum for around a .50 ct diamond. I actually like the tiffany replica''s better, the way that they cup the diamond and sort of lay flat against it rather than stick out, if that makes sense. I can''t figure out how to attach the picture from the whiteflash website, but it is the first one listed under solitaire settings. A better example of my ideal setting is the union diamond 6 prong that Kit has, but I would rather go with wf, so I can''t get that setting. I understand that the WF setting is never going to look like that one, but I was hoping to make it look a little more delicate and flowing- it looks bulky and like it has such hard edges right now. I honestly have no idea what shaving down the prongs would mean, it is just something that was suggested to me.

If anyone has a good pic of the setting I am talking about, can you post it so that tberube can photoshop it? I only have access to the stock wf pic. I know shimmer has this setting... shimmer, would you mind if I used your pics?
