Hi:

So, I just purchased a ring and worked with my jeweler to create the setting (I am surprising my girlfriend, but know what she likes). The center stone is a Cushion and there are 8 side stones in a shared-setting. The side stones are approximately 14 points each.

Because I designed this without her input, I am nervous about the finished product (pics below). Does it look like there is too much platinum showing on the side of the ring? Does that matter? Thoughts on the setting, or the ring in general, would be great. I had some help in the purchase, but wanted to get opinions from this knowledgeable group.

The stats are (I know this is what you guys like the most) -- 2.21, E, SI1, Excellent Polish, Good Symmetry, No Fluorescence, 61% Table, Girdle is medium to very thick (faceted) and there is no culet.

Thanks for all your help.

Very pretty... Hard to tell from the pics, but is it a Cushion Brilliant or Modified? I don''t think there is too much metal at all. I love the side view. She''ll love it, how could she not?!

I think it''s gorgeous and I''m sure she''ll be thrilled!!! I love the setting!

I''m glad you like.

The GIA report says "Cushion Modified" and then "Brilliant" under that. I guess that means it''s Cushion Modified? Clearly, I am expert in these matters.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

I think it''s just gorgeous! There''s not too much metal, and you want it to be sturdy enough to hold the stones securely. It''s really beautiful, and the strong prongs on the center stone really add to its presence and allow it to stand out against those sizable sidestones (yuu-um). You did a wonderful job!

I think you did a stupendous job! It''s absolutely beautiful and I can''t imagine anyone not being blown away by the ring and the obvious care you took in designing it for her
