settings reserved for diamonds?

I know this is probably the wrong question for this forum, but I also posted in colored stones forum and I am just afraid that people who know about these settings don''t often go to that forum so I am just re-posting here in case- I''ve always gotten great answers from you guys. Does anyone have any information about this?

Does anyone here know if you can get a stone other than a diamond set in "designer settings" such as the vatch x-prong or the ritani endless love? My dream engagement ring would have to be a pink sapphire set in a ritani endless love setting with the halo (I know i change my mind every day, a month ago it was a tension setting, a week ago I wanted baguettes, now it''s sapphires and halo settings... my boyfriend wants to kill me) but if i wanted to do this would i have to have a setting custom made or can i buy the setting from ritani and get my sapphire set in it after, or even by ritani? and could the same people i would go to for diamonds be able to get a well-cut sapphire for me, or are there more specialized sapphire vendors?

Pearlmans actually has pics of colored stones set in some of their Ritani rings. here''s one of them.. and yes, i''d just check with whom you''re buying your setting from about getting the center stone. Pearlmans actually got a beautiful tanzanite for me that I used in a necklace...

i can''t advise you specifically on your question..... but i would say to give pearlman''s a call (or email him from his site. he is unbelievably prompt in answering email inquiries!) i have contacted bill myself regarding a reset and he is wonderful. if anyone could help you out with an answer and get you what you are looking for, all with very pleasant communications, he''s the guy! and he goes way back with ritani so he would know if it can be done and how best to go about it.

I think I''ve seen Vatche settings set with colored stones. I don''t think many of the designers would mind setting their stones with colored stones, especially considering how lovely sapphires look in some of them! My personal goal is to have a blue sapphire in a Vatche Antique or red spinel in a Beverly K setting. BTW... Vatche is now doing rings in Paladium (one of the ladies on here has a Swan three stone in paladium). And Ritani does too, so that''s a nice cost saving option, you were looking for one~
