Hey guys,

i've been reading various threads on this forum and you're all super informative and helpful, so i want to get your take on something:

i was thinking of getting a two toned rose and white gold ring similar to this: http://www.gemvara.com/Customized/jewelry/v/250899/?cert=5126548245 a lotus ring with an inner rose gold petal layer and the rest of the ring in white gold.

my stone is roughly a 1 ct j round. my other option was a pave solitaire in this setting: http://www.whiteflash.com/jewelry/images/lotus-diamond-engagement-ring-by-leon-mege-sideview-1244.htm...

my goal is to have a setting that will best compliment my stone. i want it to look bigger and brighter; how do you think these two styles would affect the look of my stone? thank you so much

I love the Leon Mege Lotus ring about 1000 times more than the other one. I don't really like the design of the first one plus I think it has too many sharp edges...too easy to catch on things or accidentally scratch someone!

I also love the LM ring (a ton better). I think you might get tired of the first setting and it looks a little cocktail-ish to me vs
an actually engagement ring.

yes, ty, that was definately a concern i had about the petaled one looking more cocktailish than a traditional ring. and diamondseeker, i do love the leon mege too, but i guess the reason i was considering the other one is because i want something "different" from what everyone else has, which is why im not doing a halo, even though some are very beautiful. ( i might just have to save my money and get one made for my right hand lol)

with either of the styles, i am going to have them made with 6 prongs. if i go with the petaled design, i am thinking of making the petals more together so the layers arent so pronounced and then raise the center stone a bit. the ring itself also wont be a "knife edge" like it is now, but a single pave band, and then the lotus part will look more like a fancy solitaire setting from the side.

with the leon mege, i would do 6 prongs, possibly raise the stone up a bit to catch more light, and then im debating if i want the pink stones on the side or if i want a light green sapphire or peridot....i love light green, and since those are the petals, it kind of makes sense.

but which setting do you think will really enhance hwo the stone looks? will the lotus overpower it and make it look small?

I definitely think the first will overpower the stone - I think it would overpower a 5ct, so that's not saying much! Honestly, I'm thinking 6prongs on that WF/LM might be too much for your 6.5mm as well, unless you specifically want a very busy head - that's an awful lot of metal petal...
