With the strawberry quartz on it's way to me next week, I'm already thinking of setting it. I'm going to spend $100 or less and I think this can easily be done.

I actually found a local jeweler this week that is setting something for me. They can order from Stuller and do pretty great work. I will be showing them the quartz for ideas, but I'm leaning toward sterling silver to keep it affordable.

In this case, I'm leaning toward someone from Etsy. Ideally, I think I'd like a bezel with an open bottom to allow light through. Barry liked that idea as well. I'm searching Etsy for a setting like that. If anyone sees one, please point me.

Other than that, I like the idea of some of these settings. What do you think? Help!!

That quartz is just so fun to look at. I think just a simple setting would do for it. It can definitely stand up on it''s on and should be the star without any elaborate setting.

It''s so pretty! How soft is it anyways? Would a pendant be better if it''s on the soft side??

It''s pretty hard - 7 on the Mohs hardness scale

So do you think the Sudlow setting might be too much?

I do love that setting, it''s very unique and pretty. I wonder, though if it would cover too much of the lovely quartz. Not sure, I''m not much of a help..hehehe..

It may be a bit much. Here is another stone. On this one, she shows it upside down and it is open underneath.

The setting the TreAnelli does is simple and would look good, don''t you think?

Ooh, I love this ring. It reminds me of the color of Med. water... ooh!!
Do you think it would be too much for my strawberry quartz? Or do you think I should keep it simple like TreAnelli''s setting?

I really like the TreAnelli setting!

Me too! I love the finish she puts on them. Not too shiny with a very cool matte look.

I will go with the simplest design to avoid any competition against the interesting pattern of your strawberry!

Me too. I think it will look beautiful in that setting. I really love that stone too. I can''t wait to see when you receive it.

I can't wait to see this set. It is soo neat!

Woo hoo - I think I can myself one too!

I looove that stone- what a cool specimen! I think I would have it set in a simple bezel ring. That ornate sudlow is gorgeous (had never seen it before), but I think it would be a bit distracting from the main show in this case.
