My daughter really likes a setting she saw at Spence Diamonds (0524). But not the $5,000 price tag. People here are so knowledgeable about settings and where to purchase them that I thought I would ask if anyone knew of a similar setting for less or how much to expect to have a custom design done. The center stone is .75ct and we would like to have our own diamond set in the center. Thanks so much for any suggestions.

Hi deeisme! :)) So, just to clarify, was the entire ring (setting AND diamond) $5000? Because I cannot imagine any vendor asking $5000 for that type setting. Honestly, I don't think the entire ring should be that much... I do think you could find a similar setting for a lot less money and most likely of better quality. ;))

Also, what is it in particular that she likes about the setting? Is it the diamonds, Celtic style metal on the band, of that it's set high (or maybe a combination of these)?

Sorry about that, I should have clarified things better. The price was for the finished ring including what I would deem a medium quality Center diamond. We would rather use our own stone for the center. The ring was white gold and I've seen platinum rings for that price. Thus the reason I'm looking to find a similar design instead.

My daughter would rather the center stone was a bit lower but loves the rest of the design. She likes the pinch in at the Center stone and at the end of the three side stones, and that there is a bit of a twist. Basically she likes that it is classic and yet a little bit different. She has small hands and doesn't want anything too wide or terribly ornate and she feels like a center stone of .75ct is as large as she is comfortable with.

Polished,
Thank you for the suggestion. I will pass it along to my daughter.
