I was hoping for a suggestion for radiant stones for a setting. My GF wants something with a thin band, simple, maybe a couple of sidestones. We saw a setting w/ 3 round sidestones really liked, but now when I think about it, I feel like round side stones might be kind of weird with a rectangular diamond. Does anyone have pics of sometihng like this? Is this a a fashion no-no? does anyone have other suggestions?

Here is a link to Kittybean''s STUNNING emerald cut with round size stones :).

Kittybean''s Ring

I think a rectangular radiant could look beautiful in that kind of setting did you have a picture of the setting you are both looking at?

Yeah that is almost exactly the setting she wanted, except with a thinner band.. The only difference being that the stone will be like half the size.

Looks like the setting came from blue nile.

I''m not a huge fan of round sidestones with a square stone. I''d prefer traps or baguettes. But you should get what the GF wants1

I have a radiant centre stone, with round side-stones on all three sides of my ring and I think it goes wonderfully! It really shows off the beautiful shape of my radiant.

I have a 1.01 ct radiant with micropave. Does your gf want larger side stones like what Kittybean has or pave/micropave like missjaxon and me? The looks are completely different, so you may want to clarify with her. Having said that, I think as long as the round stones aren't too big they won't detract from the beauty of the radiant.

Here's my ring:

To clarify, when I think sidestones, I think BIG stones. Not micropave. If you are thinking micropave with a square stone I think that is totally fine.

The attached image is the one that she liked the most at the local shop. It has the larger side stones. She also liked a micropave one, though, but I don''t think she liked them as much.

This image is the stone Mark T at ERD picked out for me, sitting on something similar he had in stock..

That said, if it is going to look weird, I would appreciate suggestions :)

Well I have a radiant with pear shaped side stones, and that''s also an unusual combo. If she wants round side stones in her ring, I would get it for her. What she wants is most important, not what other people think. I''m sure that many people dislike my ring, but I like it, so that''s all that matters.

I don''t think that would look weird at all. It comes down to personal preference. Everybody has different taste and if she loves the round stones with the radiant centre stone I think that is the way to go. I think it looks beautiful and you should definitely give her a setting that she loves and will look down at her finger everyday and admire.

Thanks for the shout-out, Deelight!

Unzz, my setting is indeed from Blue Nile. Prior to receiving my ring, I probably would''ve agreed with neatfreak on traps or baguettes with a square or rectangular stone, but I absolutely love the look I have now. Although I might not have initially picked it out of the millions of styles out there, I think I actually love it more than anything I had in mind. If you know this type of setting is something your girlfriend wants, I''d say absolutely go for it! It is truly lovely in person. I get a ton of compliments on it, and I like that it is unique. I think it would look great with a radiant--the brilliant cuts together would certainly blind people =).

I know that most PSers (including me, actually) would recommend going with Whiteflash or Good Old Gold if buying a ring online. My FI had a wonderful experience with Blue Nile, and I am very, very happy with how gorgeously cut, white, and clear my stone is; however, if I were doing the buying, I would''ve gone through Whiteflash so I could see pictures and get ASET and Idealscope images before the diamond came to me. Blue Nile does give you an inspection period of 30 days, which is longer than WF or GOG allows, but you do need this time to make sure the stone checks out.

Oh, the other thing I might have considered if I were putting together my ring: getting ACA stones for the round sides. My appraiser graded my side stones "very good-excellent" cut, but I think adding the extra ideal cut sparkle would look lovely. I''m not sure what the cost difference would be, but it''s something to think about.

P.S. I definitely don''t think it will look "weird"

well, she really has been having a hard time committing to liking one thing.. it has been changing weekly :) So she basically just told me to pick something myself.

I think that setting you posted would look lovely with a rectangular center stone!!!

Hi,

I just wanted to say that is a beautiful radiant. I think it will look lovely in the setting she picked out.

Unzz I think it would be really pretty in the setting you posted. I don''t like the one from Mark quite as much.

Please come back with pictures once you''ve decided. Good luck!

Mark said that he recommended against the setting she picked out because it did not have enough metal holding the side diamonds in, and they would eventually come out.

Does anyone know of a setting similar to kittybean''s that has either a third side diamond, or maybe tapers in between the band and side diamond?

Thanks.
