I have been an on looker for some time. This is actually my first post. I''m going to propose to my girlfriend of 9 years.

I found the perfect setting that I know that she will love at Icing on the Ring in Los Angeles. However, the actual stone is from Whiteflash. Has anyone ever purchased a setting and diamond from two different locations.

I was thinking of purchasing the setting and sending it to Whiteflash to get the stone placed. Do you think that it''s a good idea? I''m a bit nervouse that the guarentee would not apply. Any advice or info would be greatly appricated.

Yes, I would send the setting to WF rather than the other way around. I''m not sure what you mean by the guarantee though?

What guarantee?

If it''s WF... just ASK THEM if it would apply.

I''d send the setting to WF myself.

I agree. You need to ask WF if they will set the stone in a setting from another jeweler and insure it while being set. They may want to see a picture of the setting.

Discuss your concerns with the selling jeweler. Not every stone will work well in every mounting and the issues aren’t all entirely obvious. If you’re going to send the mounting to WF to set, make sure that the jeweler agrees to take a return if the WF craftsmen report that the combination won’t work properly. Naturally, they would need to make this decision prior to doing any work on the mounting so that you could return it undamaged and I wouldn’t expect this to be a problem at WF but the jeweler may not agree and it would be a shame for you to end up with a mounting that you can’t use.
