Well, went and saw new settings - what do u think of these??
Please choose #1,2,3,4. Thank you!! :wavey:

I don't know if you have been following my posts but I've been trying to find my favorite setting once and for all.
My stone has a cushiony shape from all angles but from top view. The facets are chunkier than a modern rb. I am not sure if a halo would detract from seeing the center stone. I know my current setting is very low, but it allows you to see the whole stone from many angles because it's not set so high up. Yet I love settings that swoop up. Maybe one that swoops up a little to the center?

I personally like your ring as is; it's perfect. But since you want to change it, I, for some reason, don't think I'd like your stone haloed (or at least that particular halo), but that's just me. Which one do you love best? Have you thought about VC for a setting? Really, I love your setting right now though....

Hmm, I'm not really feeling that particular halo, I think your stone will get lost - I really like this halo, it's a cushion shaped stone but I just wanted to post an example of a delicate halo:

I think the other settings are pretty - Maybe the trellis is too contemporary for your older cut stone?

What do you think? Did you have the feeling of "this is the one" for any of them?

I definitely like your current setting better than the other options. Gorgeous ring

I really love your current setting better.

I like your current setting better as well.

I thought your current setting was a "new" choice and I was going to say 1000X YES!!!

I vote current setting

Yes, add me to loving the current setting. I think you'd be disappointed if you changed the setting - it's seriously beautiful!

I voted to keep your existing setting - it looks amazing, fits your hand beautifully, really allows your centre stone to be the star of the show...

How about a dazzling RHR? Try out something totally "not you" (as in outside your comfort zone) and then you could use one of these settings there - maybe a CS for a centre stone?

I'm not sure if it's the pic quality or not, but I agree with everyone else. Your ring looks amazing in it's current setting.

OMG! I can't believe the overwhelming response to keep my current setting. It really makes me think twice and leaning now towards keeping it. :wavey: Thanks to all of your replies and thanks for participating in the vote!!!

I will post more pics below of my setting to make sure you guys still think it's nice. That one pic was one angle. Here they go:

Question re: last pic - setting I was considering:
That particular setting (on ring finger - Trellis/Lucida style) has a circular "frame" and from the TOP View of (that pre-set ring I tried on in the last photo) you can see the round diamond AND the circular "frame" that the diamond rests in.
Do you think that jeweler had too small of stone for that setting and that's why the circular frame was visible? Should it not be visible?
I wouldn't want to see that frame, nor emphasize any roundness. What do you think??

Anyway, please take a look at the pics and let me know if you still vote the way you did. When I made the poll, I could only upload 4 pics for the post. Thanks!

I really love the setting you have - reminds me of my great-grandmother's. :) Yours is one of my favorite settings on PS - please don't change it!

Hi! I I voted to keep your current setting. It is very classic and you will never get tired of it and it really showcases your diamond. However, if you feel that it is set too low you can always take it to a reputable Goldsmith/platinumsmith and have the prongs reworked and built up higher to showcase your stone even more. Some may disagree with me here, but I personally think that stones set up higher show off the center stone more plus make the center stone look even larger. When I was looking at settings for my stone I was trying on higher settings and comparing to lower settings and my stone actually looked bigger than a couple of other stones which were a little higher in carat weight. When I compared the naked stones side-by-side you could see that the stone was slightly larger than mine, but when my stone was set in a higher setting than the slightly larger stone, mine actually appeared larger. Food for thought. :read:

Edit: we were posting at the same time. I just looked at the new pictures you posted of your current ring and it is really beautiful you don't need to do a thing to it. If the low setting continues to bother you then you can always have that changed. As much as I love high settings, I really think you're setting together with your wedding band are perfect the way they are!

You have an AMAZING ring!! When I thought a pic of your curent ring was a new ring choice I think I yelled YES right at the computer screen! :angryfire: What wedding band do you wear with it? The one pictured with the higher setting? Do you have pics of your current set together? (maybe in another thread - sorry)

Hi! Junebug - forgot to thank you for that link - pretty ring, but I guess I'm not feeling halos lately for me I think ur right.

Ecf - thanks for the compliment! :wavey:

Goodluxegirl- Thx! I think you r right about it possibly looking larger higher up. I saw a cz in a higher setting and it looked much bigger and it was the same mm..! (Trellis setting)

Moto - Thanks! LOL (yelling at screen! ) Here is a pic or 2 of a band w/ it.

And of course, thanks to everyone who wrote a reply!! :wavey: :appl: :appl:

Would love to hear what you think. I don't know why the Trellis is calling my name.....but I feel like I wouldn't be honoring my ring and the integrity.....I am leaning toward keeping the setting unless something wows me or something I guess. Is that a good plan? What would you do?

^^ These pics are awesome! Stop looking at your beautiful set and second guessing yourself! I am in love with it and your w-ring and e-ring together are g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s.!!! Case closed. :lickout:

No question your current setting is so much nicer than those. I don;t think either is as good quality as your vintage mount. If you reset you should look for something nicer, more finely made!

No you should not see the basket around the stone, that is a sign of poor workmanship or a too small stone.

I do think a different wb would work better, maybe that would change how you feel about your set?

It's TDF!!! What exactly don't you like/love about it???

Ditto Dreamer in regards to the wedding band. Maybe a thinner pave wedding band with milgrain would compliment your e-ring better?

thinking of Victor Canera setting.....? any suggestions? Want a wider shank; detailed milligrain and some shiny metal exposed too....
