Sorry for the noob-i-ness:
I''m inching ever closer to buying an asscher stone for my girlfriend, however the places that I''m most comfortable making an online/over-the-phone purchase of an asscher (WF, GoG, JA...) don''t have the type of setting my gf desires (as far as I can find, anyway). What she wants is very simple, but particular. I''ve had trouble finding the style at most B&M stores in my area as well.
The image below is pretty much exactly what she wants. Flat edge solitaire, relatively thin, barely-tapered white gold band. The sleek hard lines is attractive to her especially when paired with an asscher cut stone. The image is from Adiamor, of whom I''ve heard mixed reviews. Is it advisable to buy the setting and then send it on to another company that will be supplying the diamond for mounting? I''m concerned about the quality from Adiamor. Perhaps others can speak to their experience with them?
Perhaps I buy the setting and the stone loose and have a local jewler mount it? I''m new to the area (Denver) and don''t know any jewlers here outside of the major chain retailers. I wouldn''t even know who''s reputable for that sort of service. Would a jewler even do that without being part of the sale of the diamond or the setting??
Advice? You guys are great on these boards!
By the way, the stone will be 1.5-1.7 ct. I suppose that''s another consideration for choosing the correct setting...how will I know the head will fit the stone??
