Hi,

i''ve been doing a bit of reading on this very useful forum and want to pick a setting for an e-ring which was simple and showed off the stone yet at the same time be slightly different. Her hand is small and petite.

I came across the shot below which was posted by Boom but cant find any other pictures of it or one from any other shop which had a similar band.

i quite like the little diamonds and the thin band.

i saw one in the shop but they only used half point carat diamonds which are quite small. at first i thought this was quite nice since it was small and petite and i thought it would have suited her, but my jeweller is against it because of the dirt it would catch, especially being so small.

So just wanted to see what other people thought would be a nice setting for her.

cheers

HI Lazza,

I found a couple of rings that are quite similar in style to the one you posted you might like to have a look at these :).

Flush Fit Diamond Setting

Pave Legato

Split Shank Pave

Do you like any of those?

Hi Deelight, thank you for the warm welcome :P

I had a look at those settings you recommended but i think the band is either too thick or too thin. Part of the appeal of the Boom ring was that the band was thin making the diamond look bigger.

At the moment im favouring the classic 6 prong setting or one that cris crosses with 4-5 diamonds on each side but try to maintain a thin band to make it look petite and dainty.

The one i saw in the shop had those really small diamonds in the middle of the band. if you imagine the band being 3 points wide, it was almost a point each side with the diamond in the middle to give you an idea of the proportions.

but i hear that having diamonds on the band might take away from the main rock or get dirty really quickly. since i dont wear jewellery, is this going to be a problem? would it be difficult to clean?

i guess im really after tips / suggestions at the moment - the key is to keep the ring simple for a petite quiet girl :P

It looks to me like Boom's ring tapers towards the stone, so I looked to find rings with diamonds on the band that taper as well. There's one from Blue Nile: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=7320

If you aren't sure about wanting bling on the band, this probably isn't the setting for you, but I thought I'd show you anyway.

ETA: I tried looking for that ring too and didn't find it, but in Boom's thread talking about her upgrade to a Leon, she mentioned having previously used Mark Morrell (doesn't say for what, I don't think). So it's possible the ring you like is a custom piece.
