Hi all,

After much looking, I finally got a RB 1.5c G/SI1 stone. It''s beautiful and has great performance.. so thanks to all who helped advise me with that purchase.

I''m now looking for a setting. What settings will provide the best light performance and still be great for everyday wear (decent protect from chipping)?

Thanks!

It really does not matter what type of setting bc an Ideal cut diamond will shine in any but if you are wanting protection from chipping a six prong or bezel setting will protect the best.

Hmm, does a setting that has the pavilion of the diamond exposed to light not help show general brilliance?

Thread on Settings for Max Brilliance, John explains it well.

in a poorly cut stone, it may help it some, but if you want to see more of the diamond then prongs would be something to consider, but there are bezel settings that you could get custom made (like a collette setting - not sure how to spell) that just bezels the girdle of the diamonds and shows everything else. But in a very well cut diamond light is reflected back to through the top anyways.
