.80 is not small! As a matter of fact it is double the national average (.38). Unfortunately, if you live in the Northeast, I think that number doubles to about 1.60. In any event, your ring looks great and really classic on you.

But you know what might be fun for you? I think you briefly mentioned the possibility of getting a colored stone in passing. If you feel like you''re in a rut with your ering you should design a killer, really cool RHR with a budget friendly CS. That way you''ll have a new project to focus your energies and a ring that is no longer competing with all the other diamonds in the city, because its in a league of its own!!

I''m sure your FI and jeweler will be THRILLED!! Haha.

When my hubby and I picked out my (first) Ering, size was determined by what he felt comfortable spending. I wore a less than 1/3 carat for many years (and not one person ever said a word, which is the way it should be). I would have been thrilled with a .80, might have even thought it was too big at the time. Maybe.

It''s a lovely size, enjoy it.

My mother wears a .80-ish stone and it looks really big to me! I think it''s a lovely size.

I''m a bit of a prong-nitpicker as well and honestly I think your setting is very pretty. In the handshot I can hardly see the prongs. Honestly. It''s a very elegant setting.

You were right not to make any big decisions in a rush. Take your time and you never know, maybe you can get that Leon setting later for an anniversary!

I know guys .82 is not that small but I guess that''s what happens when you live in NYC. Ellen, I wore a .28 pointer for a couple years and I mean, several people I know took a look at it and said: WOW that''s small. Never the people who matter, close friends, family but still I got the comments.

So I''m here thinking come on, I go get an upgrade and I still get the " for a stone your size" " you need something more substantial" .... Not that I care, really. It''s probably the setting that''s not helping the stone at all as Leon said. Yes, this is a tough city.

The most important thing is that I am madly in love with a great guy and I''m in good health.

Delster, I would love to one day get that Leon or something similar. Hey, good things come to those who know how to wait.

As a true PSer I have all figured it out ( checklist)

1- Get round ( larger) aquamarine ( blue ???) and put in current setting. Give to daughter who loves blue stones.
2- Get Leon setting or similar and move diamond to setting.
3- Maybe forego wedding band budget to get Leon. Wear substantial Leon piece as both e-ring/wedding band.
4- Get plain wedding band for kicks.
5- Should I upgrade diamond, purchase ruby or pink saphire and put in leon setting.

A girl gotta have something to look forward too. haha!!!!

Sounds like a plan.
