Setting Ideas - Looking for a Split Shank Cushion Halo

Hi there ...

It will be some time before I get around to doing this - but I'd like a split shank subtle cushion halo with a 2ct (approx) MRB or OEC. I'm leaning towards the MRB at the moment!

I'd love a VC or SK creation, but I'm wondering whether I should put the money into the stone, and maybe - one day - get a custom setting. So I guess that means I'm looking at something cast, as a temp but potentially long term setting.

I'd love to know what you would do? Come down in ct size and get the VC or SK setting or just put it in a simple solitaire for now, and get the custom setting much, much later on.

Argh, decisions!

Well being as I just went through a very similar decision last year...

I got a larger cushion. I knew I wanted to hit a certain mm marker so I went with my dream diamond. I had it in a temp setting for a few months and then I had VC set it in an Emilya halo for my overall dream ring. There was no way I could have done the setting and diamond at the same time and the mm size was not something I could have changed my mind on. I thought it would be at least 2+ years till I got my dream setting made but I ended up selling some other jewelry plus my old setting to help finance it.

So anyhow if size is what is important and you are aiming for your dream then I would go in stages. Otherwise I think you will always look back and wish you had waited.

Another option to VC and SK is the ERD cast halo. It starts out much cheaper and I have seen them in person compared to my VC rings and while there are subtle differences they are very similar. If you feel comfortable I would talk to Mark about a CAST version just to get a dollar value for what it would cost.

Goodluck!

I'd agree that if you want the bigger stone get that first. It's definitely going to cost more than the setting, so putting it in a temp setting till you have funds for the setting you want would be the route I'd suggest.
