Will need to do this in 2 posts, im looking at buying a 1 carat princess cut stone and i am torn between 2 settings and wondered which would show my main stone off the best both settings will be in yellow gold although the pictures are white, here is the thin setting ans i will try and post the thicker channel set one.

Sorry for the delay here is the channel set again it will be yellow gold.

The first, thinner one will make the diamond pop more, thus making it look bigger. What will be the approximate size of the stone?

The main stone will be 5.5x5.5 ish 1 carat princess and setting one has 0.14 carat with 14 stones in the setting whereas setting 2 the channel set has 0.50 carat in the setting wih 10 princess stones.

i like the first setting, thinner one best. they say thinner band makes diamond appear larger!

The thinner it is, the more it will pop. I will admit I am soooo not a fan of channel setting, I think it's much to masculine. I like the first one much better.

BUT that being said, have you considered the Whiteflash Legato with pave? The head is much much nicer IMO and the band is very delicate so it will make the stone POP!

Here it is:

ETA: I just noticed it doesn't come in YG, but they might be able to make it that way...

Also, just a quick, possibly very stupid question. She does wear yellow gold right? I just ask because I recently had two friends get engaged and their FI's bought them YG bands because that's what they thought was nice/traditional, but the 2 girls don't wear YG. Just want to make sure since many girls these days are going for white metals.

I agree with everyone that the first one will make your stone look bigger. I love channel set bands, but that one looks a little too substantial for my taste.

The Legato setting is really lovely too. I was searching to see if I could find a hand shot of that setting with a princess stone in it (I couldn''t), but here is a great thread with lots of suggestions on princess settings-

I agree with everyone. I like the first setting much better than the second. Go with the thinner band.

I will try an sum this up i am the female and hubby buying ring for my anniverary in july - 14 years married
2.gif
im liking the thin one but hubby likes the channel set one and now hes thinking about platinum or white gold
33.gif
my wedding ring is two tone yellow and white gold but in need of re plating so its very yellowish on my right hand i have a plain gold band (for when my wedding ring gets replated) and original engaement ring saphire and diamond and everything else is yellow gold except two tone bracelet but thats on my right wrist and my watch on my left hand is stainless steel.

I vote the thin one, and am in the same situation as you--deciding what setting to update for an anniversary. So--any info on who makes that thin setting? I''d like to look at it myself.

And my hubby has opinions on which one to get that sometimes is against what I think--so it is hard to please everyone. He told me my vote counts double so I get to make final choice. (Daughter gets vote too and it us usually cast as "eeuuuwww" not that one! Son gets no vote because he is tired of hearing me talk about it))

The thin one, definitely better for showing off the stone.

This is the setting that we finally chose in yellow gold with a platinum head, but this post helped me to look at the band width as we hadnt

and the broad setting is just about as broad as the stone we will be putting in it, also never thought width against my wedding band and now we have.

Once again thank you for your help
