Setting help! Need to decide very soon...

Hey everyone, I purchased a lovely .81ct J RB from WF on friday and ordered the legato sleek line setting, with plain shank.

But now I am having second thoughts because I have always always wanted pave on my band! And I just noticed that WF has a new setting: The legato sleek line with pave!! This is my absolute dream setting... I know it is a modest dream, but mine none-the-less!

The problem is I am worried about the ring being too delicate?? Katie at WF said that I shouldn''t put it in the ultrasonic, but then I am worried that I won''t be able to keep it clean enough for my liking... what should I do?? Have any of you had issues with WF pave, and how do you clean your rings? While I await answers I am going to search the archives, but I also wanted some first-hand advice.

I love that setting!

I see in the description it says you can use the legato head, and that's what I would do.

I don't really have answers to your questions other than I have their micropave and have had no trouble with it whatsoever. That being said, I also don't put it in an ultrasonic. Over the last week I've been using windex and a small brush and that is keeping it squeaky clean. I have platinum so as I understand it, this is ok.

I think a little Mr. Clean if it is WG would be fine.

I guess I am trying to weigh the hassle of hand cleaning, which also doesn''t get the thing as clean as an ultrasonic according to many PSers, with the beauty of the pave... and I live in Canada so sending it back to WF to be fixed if I lost a diamond is no easy task. I may just do the reverse of what you did with your set and get the plain shank on the e-ring and then get a bead-set eternity wedding band...

Any other opinions?

DD, the plain shank will give you so much more flexibility with bands. I have the Memoire band with 10-11 pointers and the delicate Legacy band. It would be fun to have a band with diamonds and sapphires, too! I just think a diamond shank on the e-ring really limits the choices on the wedding bands, and I would also not like being able to keep my diamond really clean. I guess you can say that those were my reasons for staying with the plain solitaire.

Those are all really pretty cinnamon. I think that I lean towards full eternity for the w-band, I'd just get it a 1/4 size too big to make sure it always fit!

This band will be very petite. This is the same band that my ring uses.

This is a terrific example of how lovely a eternity band can look with the sleek line solitaire with legato head.

Good point cinammon. I am not going to be getting a new diamond wedding band anytime soon, though, so I will be sure to try some on before I make the final decision, since we have spent a lot of dimaonds this year already! haha... I already have a 2mm WG weddign band that I think will look good with the legato solitaire until I get another band. Or I may order something more like your band, but maybe 2.5mm with milgrain rather than step cut, like the ones pictured below from signedpieces.

I'm also really obsessed with the engraved bands that Green Lake Jewelry Works makes, like this one attached. My hubby and I are going out to Vancouver in August and I think we will take a trip to Seattle to visit their store and try on some rings. This may be my first purchase if they look good with my new solitaire.

I love the new setting - it looks gorgeous. You can keep pave set diamonds really clean by soaking them in a mixture of purified water and windex - I heat it in the microwave. It does easily as nice a job as my ultrasonic does.

I do agree with everyone who suggested going with the simple mounting and a fancy wedding ring is a great idea. I hope you''ll love whatever you get.

Nothing beats the US as far as getting them super duper sparkly and clean. But for those really delicate pieces, I have found using a baby toothbrush and Dawn dishwasing soap does a pretty darn good task of keeping it clean.
