Setting help: $2500 budget on the diamond....

Found a diamond (just have to make sure its eye clean) and the size is .65. What type of setting would be best for something of this size? My original plan is halo, not sure if I can afford that now. I would like to see everyone''s opinions, just not something that is $3g for setting lol.

If it helps, the diamond I found is from GOG.

0.65 is a lovely size and would look good in pretty much any setting! A classic solitaire is always a good option, or a 3-stone with 2 tapered baguettes. A halo would make the diamond look bigger and is certainly within budget. This Danhov is one of my favorite halo settings, but it''s a little pricey. The WF halo bezel in white gold is a less expensive option; there''s also a prong-set rather than bezel version. I would definitely stick with white gold instead of platinum to keep the cost down.

L2T- assuming you are the guy, the best setting is whatever your girl thinks looks good!!! While halos can look great on a smaller stone, they definitely cost $$ and some people like them, some don''t. For those on limited budgets, some put money into halos because they like the look and can make the stone look bigger, others would prefer to put their dollars into a larger center stone and then work on fancifying the setting at a later date.

If you don''t know your girl''s preference on the matter and don''t want to ask, I would go with a nice solitaire or a solitaire with a few pave stones on the band for some sparkle.

These are WF examples, you could ask GOG what they have available similar or get WF to make a setting based on measurements and ship it to GOG for mounting:

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am talking to a "Friend of a friend" about having something made. He is giving me really great price quotes (danhov style-esque) for settings while I search for diamonds else where.

As for what she likes. ANYTHING! lol We went into a few stores this weekend just for poops and giggles and she just wants something that sparkles. She doesnt care size, setting, shape etc. (which is amazing for me!).

Oh, she has no idea I am buying one either. Money will just be tight till Jan. but well worth it
