Setting help.....1.5mm or 2.0mm

Hi,

Im new to this forum so Im hoping this is in the right spot...... My boyfriend bought me a 0.53 cushion cut diamond and has told me that I can choose whatever setting I like. I quite like the look of the diamond pave, and my question is how thick should I get the band made?

The diamond is 4.93mm x 4.89mm and my ring size is 5.

I love thin pave bands myself, so I understand where you are coming from.

The problem is that you need to maintain structural integrity, and simply put - that takes a certain amount of metal. For pave styles, I think it is typical for most designers to stay at 2mm wide or more, although a few do make thinner bands. You mention 1.5mm in your post title... that is REALLY super thin and delicate... and I'm not sure it would be a wise choice for everyday wear.

I have a 2mm band and am a size 5 1/4 and it is plenty thin. I had to get use to how delicate it is. I would not go any thinner.
