I just got an engagement ring with an old miners cut diamond and my finace chose to use a new setting instead of an antique one. We are having issues fitting the diamond into the newer setting. Has anyone out there had problems fitting an OMC into a setting? Should we have opted for an antique setting?

No, but there are a few things to consider.

1. You need to work with a jeweler that knows the heck what they are doing.

2. You need to know that some settings will work better than others.

3. See number 1.

Ditto! I''d call Single Stone and talk to Ari. Ask him about it. He''s got tons of antique repro settings that he can tailor to fit your stone and all he does is antique stones. You DONT want someone inexperienced with old cuts to mess up your stone, forcing it into a setting it doesn''t fit! Most old cut girdles tend to be very thin and you really need a vendor/setter experienced with old stones...!
