Had my heart set on the Superbcert Classic Tiffany setting but today I received an email from SC saying that they will no longer send out just the setting as they've seen so many "botched" setting jobs that they now insist on having their benchmen perform the task. This presents a problem for me with regard to timeline (they're saying at least 2.5 weeks) and also because I'm reticent to send my diamond in when I have no experience with this vendor. Had thought I would just acquire the setting and get the diamond set locally.

Your thoughts please on the requirement that I send my diamond in to them...

Get a policy with Jeweler''s Mutual before sending it off and you''ll be fine.

Well, it is certainly within their rights to not sell their setting separately.

SuperbCert is a reputable vendor. They are not the only sellers of nice Tiffany replicas.

Wow, thanks for the replies. It''s good to know that SC/Excel has a good reputation. Still not sure I want to send the stone off - JM insurance is a good idea. Who else makes a nice Tiffany replica?

Whiteflash makes a nice one (their classic request).

Don''t think WF will sell just the setting...

I read that you needed help setting a sapphire. I guess my mind has crystalized!

Go the JM route and then have Excel set it. They may be able to shorten the timeline if you really need it. Call and talk to a SA.
