Setting & Carat/Diameter Question

I am looking for a setting for my stone, and I think I found one. However, it looks a little small for my stone (1.6 carat, about 7.57mm). When I asked what size stones go in the setting, they said 1.25 - 1.50 carats.

They asked what size I have and I told them. They said the setting would be "perfect" for my stone. They seem to be reputable and I''d like to trust them, but my analytical side is saying ... isn''t this a setting for a 1.25 - 1.50, and 1.6 is not in that range!

Should I keep looking?

I see your point. However, the dealer that you are working with may be allowing for custom modifications that will accommodate the size center diamond that you own. If they couldn''t do it than I doubt that they would offer the possibility. Good luck.....

You really can''t tell if they were accurate or off somewhat in their estimated size range. If it was a standard production mounting, I''d rely on the size estimate. If it was an estate item, then the liklihood of an innaccurate estimate is far greater.
