Hi all,
Thank you to those who read through my long post on my experience at Sarah Leonard in Westwood Village and for offering your kind words.
The plan was to look at settings at a few different places while we wait to get our stone back from certification. I was initially very apprehensive about visiting Servis and Taylor because I had heard from this board that they are considered high-end and some did not care for the salesperson's attitudes. Of course after dealing with Robin at SL, I figured what do we have to lose?
I agree with the poster (sorry I forgot the poster's name) who reassured the people here that although the store is inside a mall (Westside Pavilion in Los Angeles) the rings/settings are far from "maul" quality. When we walked in there was no one around, the door chimed and I knew someone would be out soon so we just browsed, the store had a lot of very unique setting, most had a very European look and very sleek and simple. A gentleman came out who turned out to be Michael Taylor and acknowledged us and let us know to feel free to browse and ask any questions if we needed. It was very low-key and no pressure. We did start talking and asking questions, first about tension settings then about settings with micro-pave and looked at men's rings. There were a lot of unique pieces. Through it all, Michael was professional, courteous and educational without talking down to us. He showed us many pieces and knew that we were trying to get our diamond certified and would not buy for at least a month but that did not change his attitude. I liked a lot of the pieces although it was pricey (not too much higher than Sarah Leonard) his service really won us over.
Although I still think we should look at a couple more places in person and on-line, it was a great experience and I know that if we went with Serivs and Taylor we would be paying a premium but that would be the reason to work with a B&M to establish a relationship. Even if I do not get my e-ring from him, I feel like his store is a place I would go back and pick up other pieces of jewelry. I think sometimes that is lacking in today's world, most people are worried about making the sale today but depending on attitude/customer service, I may not buy today but I will definitely be back (or not) down the line.
I did a search on the board for Servis and Taylor and noticed Cheethoe got a 3 stone ring made there and everyone seem to really like it but for some reason the images would not load. I really wish I can see it!
Thanks for reading.
