your friend has such a beautiful inner strength. She seems like the type of woman who doesn''t look on those types of experiences with judgment or hate, but rather an attitude of learning, growing, and expressing love. I think people are so used to being angry and hateful that it becomes harder to show compassion and love. Your friend truly is an inspiration.
The ''epic'' celebration they have planned sounds absolutely touching... reminds me of this video:

The man who sung this song has since passed on, but in the last 1/3 of the video part of his ash ceremony is shown and it really shows how they celebrated the life he lived.
Thank you, everyone, for your well wishes. It was really hard for me last night. I don''t usually break down and sob, but I did last night on the way home from our board meeting. The last time I remember having that type of spontaneous combustion was after I watched "Hotel Rwanda". I came home from the theatre and was sitting on the corner of my bed having just taken my shoe off, and just lost it. I think I sobbed for nearly 30 minutes at the reality that humanity is capable of such senseless violence.
That is how I was last night. I think a good sobbing cleanse is good for the soul every 5 years or so. I do wake up looking like a bug, with a headache, and have to use my reading glasses all day, but it released a lot of pent up emotions. I was lighter today.
I will draw my strength from Danielle. It''s mind boggling because the police have no motive, no suspect, no clue. They have ruled out robbery or narcotics related motive. He was stabbed to death. ::::heavy sigh::::::
And of course, my tribute would be incomplete without a picture of Ken with Danielle and the first Kids for Peace chapters. Danielle is sitting next to Ken in the baby blue shirt. She''s such an angel.
(((hugs))) thoughts of peace, strength, and love headed their (and your) way... though I think they''re well on the right road and that''s a wonderful thing.
*bump* just because I think the world needs more people like Danielle who are committed to change...her latest FB status post....
Danielle is full of gratitude. Children filled her street with chalk messages of love and peace last night, and today, children brought her family "love and peace-a" (peace sign and heart-shaped pizzas), "loving lemonade," "super smiley sunshine salad," and "caring comfort cookies." We give thanks for all the good in the world, and commit ourselves to creating more.
