semi-mount

i''ve heard this term used a lot. can someone please define it for me just so i''m sure. is it any setting you buy separately from a loose center stone?

"semi-mount" usually refers to mountings with some kind of side stones, pave and/or other decorations and an empty space for a center stone.
Well at least here on Pricescope that is, simple solitaire setting usually just called "mounting".

I think the term is used for mounts that already have seats cut in them as well.

Hi C

I think the more appropriate terminology for those would be "pre notched".

Leonid has the right term for semi mounts.
