I just discovered this forum tonight - I really need some advice from experts!
I have a 12mm trillion apatite gemstone that I want to have set in a semi-mount. Most rings I have seen online don''t seem to have prongs that work for the shape of stone. Do I buy a basket prong (where?) and a semi-mount and find a jeweler that will complete the ring, or do I just find a jeweler first? I am not even sure if I am using the correct terms. Thanks for any advice.

Can you post some photos of your stone?

I can''t right now. My digital camera got splashed and is currently out of commission. Hopefully, I will be able to take pictures again soon. Thanks.

Honestly, I would find a competant jeweler first. They will have access to literally thousands of semi mounts and can help you select the right one and mount it. It will be a PITA for you to try and find "the right one" online.

Any jeweller should be able to easily find you a plain trilliant basket to go with the shank (most likely a Stuller product) at very reasonable rates.
