Overstock.com has a new program where you can mail them in your scrap gold and get a check for it. Thought I''d try it since I trust them more than one of those scrap gold companies that advertise on late night tv
and I didn''t want to bother with going to a jeweler.
So, I sent in .81 oz of mostly 14 k gold and a few 10k gold pieces, so I estimate 50% actual gold = .4 oz gold x ~$725/oz = $290 value
They offered me $137, roughly half of what it would be worth if I refined it myself
I don''t know how good of a deal that is, but I accepted it. The process was very easy. They email you prepaid postage, and then you just print it out, tape it on an envelope and put it in your mailbox (its insured for $100). Then they make you and offer via email and you accept or reject.
Anyway, just thought I''d post what they paid in case anyone else was interested.
