I have a wonderful Old Mine Cut diamond that I wish to sell. I would like any and all information anyone can provide regarding the best/safest process.
I have the following information about the ring (the diamond has been unmounted).

Clarity- SL-1
Color- M-O
Cut- Fair Medium-Class 3a

One prong set old mine cut diamond measuring 9.65 X 9.48 X 6.10mm with actual diamond weight of 3.722 ct.

Six channel set square shape standard mixed cut (synthetic) blue sapphires measuring 2.00 X 1.90 X 1.50mm, approximate weight 0.30ct, clarity l-3, type ll, medium, slightly grayish, blue color (GIA B 5/2), cut is medium good. Weight of Mount 2.976g

I cannot upload my pictures of the ring and being a tad computer challenged cannot use the thread I began last year...
Please search drkah in Rocky Talk..."Old Miner Diamond Questions" for my pictures and information that I uploaded on 12.21.07

Thank you for your patience!

If you have already loaded this photo on PS you will need to change the name to load it a second time.

There are a few ways to go about selling your stone. My advice is to contact some dealers and see what kind of pricing they will offer you. Then check eBay and see what comps you can find there. You may get a higher price via private party transaction (ebay, craigslist, etc.), but selling to a dealer will be faster and less hassle for you. It just depends on your needs.

Without seeing the stone (or pics of it) the size alone makes it a piece that dealers should be interested in seeing. The key is to reasonably set your expectations as to the price you'll receive for it, which will be hard to do until you start talking to folks.

Look forward to pictures of it!

PS - if you do opt to go the ebay/private party route, please make sure you protect yourself by using paypal or a third party escrow service.
